The cottage's location is celebrated for its tranquility, scenic beauty, and proximity to local attractions and walks, making it a perfect base for exploring the area.

Guests find the cottage comfortable, with cosy bedding and a welcoming atmosphere. However, a single mention of an uncomfortable suite suggests a slight room for improvement.

It's a pleasant little village that attracts trekkers because of its proximity to Kinder Scout. Families (and those who prefer more gentle rambles) head west along the beautiful Sett Valley Trail towards New Mills, while serious walkers head east out of the village, up and over the green foothills to the russet expanse of the Kinder Plateau, Pennine Way, and Snake Path, while serious walkers head east out of the village, up and over the green foothills to the russet expanse of the Kinder Plateau, Pennine Way, and Snake Path. Edale, a different start point for the Pennine Way, is just a few kilometres distant. With taverns, cafes, and restaurants, the area caters well to tourists. The Goyt Valley, Castleton – with its famous caverns – and Buxton, a major spa town, are among the other area attractions.

However, plonker that I am, I fell off said bike and broke my arm. The owners were kind enough to change the booking to this week. We've been before and enjoyed ourselves so much we came again. The cottage is lovely and cosy with everything you'd need. There are so many places to visit nearby that a week is hardly enough. New to us this visit were the Winking Man and Lud's Church, both involving a climb but well worth it. The other thing that was different this visit were the cows. They were in their winter quarters and we really missed them ambling back to their field after milking. They kept an eye on us from their shed though. All in all a wonderful place for a break.
