Snaptrip says

High Banks Cottage in Dartmouth, Devon, is praised for its stunning views, ample parking, and warm, comfortable ambiance. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and the bonus of a delightful external decking area. While some guests mention the need for updates and minor maintenance, the overall experience is highly positive, with many looking forward to returning.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The property is consistently described as clean, with no negative comments on cleanliness, indicating a high standard maintained throughout.

The location is highly praised for its superb views and proximity to Dartmouth town and amenities, despite the steep approach which may not suit everyone.

Comfort is frequently commended, with mentions of warm, homely feelings and comfortable beds, although one mention of damp bedding slightly lowers the score.

Facilities are generally regarded as excellent, particularly the kitchen equipment. However, some maintenance issues like door handle repairs and hot water problems slightly affect the score.

While guests mention thoughtful touches and a box of chocolates as compensation for an issue, there is not enough consistent information on thoughtfulness across reviews to score this category. It should be noted that such gestures are appreciated but not guaranteed.

About this property

High Banks is a stunning, detached property with views across Warfleet Creek to the River Dart and Kingswear on the opposite side, on the edge of this coastal town of Dartmouth. With fabulous walking and cycling opportunities in every direction and a network of attractions to suit all tastes, make the most of this wonderful, Devon retreat with your family or a group of friends. You have four lower ground floor bedrooms to choose from, including two doubles, a twin and a king-size double, each enjoying the views and ample storage space. The master bedroom has its own en-suite, while the family bathroom is well-appointed for those early morning showers or long hot soaks after a bracing walk on the South West Coast Path. Spend some time with your loved ones in the sitting area watching the TV before moving across to the dining area for a scrumptious, home-cooked meal at the dining table, which can be rustled up in the well-appointed kitchen. Slide open the patio doors on a warm summer's day to let a cool breeze through or step out onto the balcony to truly appreciate your location by relaxing on the furniture with a drink and ooze in the coastal atmosphere. Take in the views across the river and listen out for the sounds of coastal wildlife down at Warfleet Creek or within Gallants Bower woodland across the way. Explore the many shops, pubs and eateries within the town centre, venture to Dartmouth Castle for even more stunning views out over the estuary and discover fabulous walking and cycling in the area. Climb aboard the Dartmouth Steam Railway, which takes you through picturesque scenery to Paignton and find a plethora of beaches for days out with all the family. High Banks makes the ideal base for a varied holiday in South Devon.

Dartmouth lies on the banks of the beautiful River Dart estuary in the popular and picturesque South Hams area of South Devon. Located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to the coast, Dartmouth is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Devon. It offers a stunning waterfront, ancient narrow streets lined with boutique shops, restaurants and art galleries plus many local events such as the annual Dart Music Festival and the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta, along with the Dartmouth Food Festival held every October. There are many interesting cycling and walking routes around Dartmouth, including the South West Coast Path, the Dart Valley Trail and plenty of quiet country lanes. A trip on the Dartmouth Steam Railway through picturesque countryside to Paignton is a must, and so is a boat trip across to Kingswear and on to Brixham, a pretty little harbour town. For those seeking some beach activities, there is a wide choice in the South Hams area such as Blue Flag Award winner Blackpool Sands, and Slapton Sands, both extremely popular and just a stone's throw from Dartmouth. A relaxing location in South Devon.

    The best view in Dartmouth.

Good car parking for 2cars, considering it’s location.Equidistant from the castle and the town. Property very warm and comfortable. Property not suitable for people with limited mobility, steep steps and road leading up to it. Good to find a property with no pets allowed.

We had a lovely week in Dartmouth with plenty to do and many places to visit nearby. Would love to come back and do it all again.
