About this property

Lavender Lodge is situated over two floors with two double bedrooms and a shower room. The ground floor open plan living area feels bright and airy with plenty of light flowing in. With a modern kitchen and comfortable seating, it accommodates small families wanting a peaceful setting, but within easy reach of the bustling coastal resort of Withersea.

The popular seaside town of Withernsea, lies in the East Riding of Yorkshire. This cosy, coastal haven has a relaxed atmosphere, the perfect location for a family break. The flat, rural landscape surrounding the town offers some magnificent sweeping views and a wild, windswept atmosphere to blow the cobwebs away! The surrounding villages offer some historical landmarks, including a lighthouse now housing a museum, a Napoleonic fortress and a huge nuclear bunker which runs award-winning tours. Withernsea's sand and pebble beach boasts a grand tower-like entrance, plenty of delicious fish and chip cafés nearby and, further along the coast, the spindly and atmospheric Spurn Peninsula that stretches three miles out to sea. Withernsea offers a traditional promenade, ornamental gardens, children’s playgrounds and fun attractions including amusements, plus there's also the convenience of two supermarkets in the town.

The converted barn is a charming and spacious home, tastefully decorated and suitably clean for the most part with only very minor exceptions. The location was excellent - peaceful and rural. We enjoyed long walks and the beautiful coastline. Tunstall Beach is one of the most picturesque and clean beaches I've been to. Visit other places nearby such as the town of Hornsea, Castle Howard and York. The village of Tunstall is well-kept and people are very friendly. The owners take pride in their property and maintain it well. Highly recommend it and would come back another time.

Not what I would call homely, unlike other cottages we have stayed in, there was not even cruets or hair drier. Possible beginners may-be?? Owners kindly left us some fresh bread and eggs. They efficiently emailed the key safe code the day before along with the WiFi pass. Cottage situated on a farm which is very tidy and quiet. Very small village with pretty church surrounded by beautiful country side. 10. MINS to Withernsea where there is an Aldi and Tesco, garage after Tesco where petrol reasonable. Very good fish and chips but long queues. You have to travel at least 45 mins to find something to do unless you are happy to sit on the beach which is very good. Sykes company are very efficient and helpful - have used them more than once.

The outside area was spacious and peaceful, despite being part of a busy farm. We loved the rural nature of the area and would certainly return.
