Snaptrip says

Butler's Cottage in Scarborough is a spacious and well-equipped property with a large garden, offering a comfortable stay in a beautiful location. Guests have praised its cleanliness, roominess, and the welcoming touches from the staff. While some maintenance issues were noted, the overall experience is positive, with the property being ideally situated for exploring the surrounding areas and wildlife.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The cottage generally receives praise for its cleanliness, with several reviews noting it as spotless and immaculate. However, there are a few mentions of specific areas needing attention, such as a dirty extraction grill and rusty baking tray, which slightly lower the score.

The location is frequently described as beautiful and ideal for exploring nearby attractions. The proximity to wildlife and the ease of access to Scarborough and Whitby contribute to a high score, despite some surprise at the closeness to the road.

Guests find the property comfortable, with large rooms and a cosy log fire. However, some guests mentioned issues with heating and a lack of storage space for clothing in one of the rooms, which slightly impacts the comfort score.

The property is well-equipped with essential appliances, but several reviews cite maintenance issues such as broken toilet seats and a strong smell from the oil boiler. The garden's upkeep and some rusty or dirty kitchen items also suggest room for improvement in facilities and maintenance.

While there are positive comments about the staff's helpfulness and a welcoming gesture mentioned in one review, there is insufficient information about consistent thoughtful touches or gifts provided to guests to accurately score this category.

Staff at the hotel that we had contact with were very friendly too. Set in an excellent position and handy for lots of good walks and country pubs with blazing fires. We hope to visit again soon.

The smell from the oil boiler was quite strong in the downstairs bathroom, slightly in the main bathroom upstairs too. You got used to it, but might still put people off, heating was very good though. Apart from that, a few little details - like could provide a pack of cards, games and selection of books, although we always bring our own. Could do with some more hooks for coats by back door and hooks in main bathroom for dressing gowns etc. Every thing was clean and very comfy. Cottage is in a great location, close to Scarborough, Whitby, Dalby Forest and Robins Hood Bay, plenty of places to eat out particularly the Three Jolly Sailors.

Only downside was the very strong smell from the heating oil each time the boiler was on, and the toilet seat in downstairs bathroom was very loose and moved each time it was sat on.l did try to tighten the fittings , but it needs attention from the plumber. Thankyou for a fab stay , log fire was amazing. Merry Christmas to all Andrea
