Snaptrip says

Mayflower Lodge is consistently praised for its cleanliness, comfortable amenities, and prime location close to the beach and local attractions. Guests enjoy the hot tub and dog-friendly environment, with a local pub nearby. Minor issues include Wi-Fi connectivity and bed sizes, but these do not detract from the overall positive experience.

Guests that stayed at this property said

Guests frequently mention the lodge being spotlessly clean and inviting, indicating high standards of cleanliness throughout the property.

The lodge's proximity to the beach, local pub, and attractions like Whitby and Scarborough, as well as its peaceful setting, are highly appreciated by guests.

The lodge is generally found to be comfortable and well-equipped, though some guests note the twin beds are small and the double bed a bit springy, suggesting room for improvement in sleeping arrangements for adults.

Facilities are well-regarded, with a fully equipped lodge and a hot tub. However, there are comments about Wi-Fi issues and shower accessibility, leading to a slightly reduced score.

There is no mention of gifts or special thoughtful touches provided by the hosts, so it is not possible to assess this category.

About this property

Staithes 2.5 miles. Nestled within the village of Runswick Bay, near the charming seaside village of Staithes, is Mayflower Lodge, a well-positioned lodge, just a short stroll from the Yorkshire coastline and North York Moors National Park. Enjoy the rural setting of Lodge 2 Mayflower, benefitting from a private decked area with hot tub, an open-plan interior, and two bedrooms to accommodate four guests. Be impressed by the living space, with a fully-equipped kitchen, dining area and lovely sitting area with an electric fire to set a relaxing ambiance. The decked area can be reached via the French doors, arriving to a decked area with patio furniture, where you can dine alfresco or simply enjoy a morning coffee. Spend the evening stargazing from the indulgent hot tub, before selecting between a king-size or twin bedroom. Come morning, enjoy a stroll and some fresh air along Runswick Bay Beach, ahead of reaching the village for some brunch in a local café; an afternoon of watersports can also be expected from the beach, where you can try your hand at kayaking, paddleboarding and swimming. Travel to Stathes for further amenities, including local shops, pubs, restaurants, tea rooms, takeaways and fish and chip shops. Ramble along the Cleveland Way, displaying 109 miles of breath-taking scenery, the stunning shoreline, and a variety of pretty villages along the way, leading you towards the national park. Be sure to head to Whitby for a fun-filled itinerary, with a visit to the gothic Whitby Abbey, a tour of the Captain Cook Memorial Museum, and a stroll along a hub of independent shops and cafés on the cards. Make unforgettable memories at Mayflower Lodge.

A delight for artists, Staithes is a quaint, peaceful seaside town with cobblestone streets and narrow alleyways. A secluded sandy beach is nestled among the rocky shoreline, and the town's charming homes and cottages are grouped around the historic harbour and bordered by high, jagged cliffs on three sides. The community can claim ties to Captain Cook, who served as an apprentice to a draper close to the harbour. Today, Staithes, which boasts a decent selection of pubs, shops, and tea rooms, is a must-see for anyone travelling to the Yorkshire Coast. There is still an rnli lifeboat station in Staithes, along with a small fleet of cobles (fishing boats) that land fish, crab, and lobster. Boat trips are also offered for fishing, birdwatching, and even whale watching. Old Jack's Boat, a well-liked BBC children's television programme, is also filmed there. With an annual Art and Heritage Festival, galleries, and artist studios that frequently provide art classes and seminars, Staithes has a strong draw for artists. The network of ginnels (alleyways) is navigated by the free Illusion Trail, which also offers local trail guides. The Cleveland Way, which descends the cliff to the sea's edge, offers the best views of the town. All in all, a great starting point for touring the Yorkshire Coast, going to Whitby or Scarborough, or taking in the moorland settlements of the North York Moors National Park.

We literally booked the day we arrived and the whole process was great with no issues at all. We are a family of four and a dog, lodge was great for our needs, the only minor points I would note, two teenagers so small twin room but I guess that's typical of such lodges so didn't detract from my rating or enjoyment either, I also found the double bed springy but I think this must have been me as can't see this mentioned previously i marked comfort down only slightly, also the hot tub was great and lovely and hot on our arrival but it was small and there is no way all four of us would get in and be comfortable on a colder evening but we still enjoyed it and took it I turns, lol! Unlike previous comment no issues with the sliding shower screen, was able to take a shower no problem and it was a good hot and powerful shower. I would definitely recommend, location was great, enjoyed the lodge, wrap around decking, private hot tub area and importantly for us a gate so secure for the dog. Short walk to the lovely local bay and local pub on site, we had a meal one evening in the pub and spent a few hours in Whitby which was a short drive away one day. Lots of places to walk dog too around the lodge. Thank you for our stay!

The cabin has everything you require to enjoy your time there. Only one suggestion going forward you may wish to consider providing Salt and Pepper pots as we did not bring any with us for meals. Great location and plenty to do around the area.

There was just one thing that we were upset about was the shower it could have by fold shower doors rather than a sliding door as could not use the shower as we couldn’t get in and had to have strip washers very disappointed. Maybe this is something you could consider. Apart from that everything was wonderful and we had a lovely relaxing week.
