Celebrating dads and father figures
Whether you’ve been able to see your dad a lot, or have been awaiting that reunion, we’re celebrating dads and father figures everywhere. We’re a small team, but we’re embracing fatherhood this Father’s Day by speaking with some of our incredible colleagues who also happen to be dads.

What does being a dad mean to you?
‘When my twins were born, being a Dad to me suddenly meant responsibility, and it scared the hell out of me! As they’ve got older (they’re now nine) I’ve realised that along with love and care, I needed to include fun and enjoyment, which wasn’t easy as the first few years with twins is incredibly hard! They like nothing more than having fun and messing about with me and I cherish that so I need to prioritise it, even if I don’t enjoy getting footballs pelted at me for hours!
What’s been your favourite trip with your kids?
One of my life’s best moments was taking the boys boogie boarding in Cornwall when they were six. Hearing their laughs as they rode their first little waves all the way onto the beach brought tears to my eyes… but that doesn’t take much!’

What does being a dad mean to you?
Being a dad to me means absolute and unconditional love for your children. The love is easy and comes naturally but the responsibility to be there for them in their lives and put their needs first, no matter what, takes total commitment and patience.
What’s been your favourite trip with your kids?
This picture with my family in Sicily would be my favourite trip as all three children were old enough to enjoy it together.

What does being a (dog) dad mean to you?
TBH, when I first got Bobby, I didn’t think it was going to even compare to having a child (I haven’t had a child, I have no point of reference and I’m sure having a human kid is much different!), but I have never cared for something in such a small amount of time. I hate the idea of leaving her alone, even for five minutes. I get sad when she’s not happy. I buy her a ridiculous number of toys and treats even though she’d rather just eat / play with my sock. So I don’t think it’s the same as ‘being a dad’ but I do just want this dog to have the best life she possibly can!
What’s been your favourite trip with your “kid” (puppy)?
‘Pup pup’ is only four months old but we did manage to get to Dorset during the May bank holiday. We booked ourselves a lovely property on Snaptrip, and whilst the weather was drastic (storms on the first night) which Bobby didn’t love, she did enjoy exploring the beach for the first time.

What does being a dad mean to you?
Being a dad is both exciting and anxiety-inducing in ways I’d never imagined. I feel my duty as a father is to encourage my son to get out into the world, to be inquisitive, learn, explore and grow in independence and strength, while at the same time protecting and securing his future as much as possible, and making sure his explorations don’t become misadventures. What I adore most about being a dad is that I’m able to cultivate a relationship with an amazing person who develops in front of my eyes, and I constantly look forward to treating his inquisitive mind to a thousand new things.
What has been your favourite trip with your child?
In May we went to Cornwall and explored several beaches around Newquay. Spending days on stunning beaches and splashing in the sea and enjoying some UK beach holiday traditions he could enjoy for the first time, like fish & chips on the beach and his first ice-cream cone from a truck (with Flake of course). We also discovered our new favourite beach – Crantock Beach.
