A Day Out in… Keswick

One of the most popular spots in the North Lakes. Keswick is home to some excellent places to eat and surrounded by miles of unspoilt countryside.

Spotlight on… Ambleside

Ambleside is a little quieter than its neighbours, Windermere and Bowness. However, there are plenty of shops and walking opportunities here.

Nestled on the edge of Windermere, the largest natural lake in England, Bowness-on-Windermere is a popular base for visiting the Lake District. It’s also home to The famous World of Beatrix Potter Attraction.


A quieter holiday spot than Bowness-on-Windermere, Grasmere offers numerous teashops and walking opportunities. While here, make sure you try some of the much-loved Grasmere Gingerbread.


A popular spot in the north of the Lake District, Keswick is close to the banks of the beautiful Derwent Water. You’ll find miles of excellent walking here, and plenty of good places to eat too.

North York Moors National Park

Well known for its stunning coastline and old steam railway, the North York Moors are a gem of northern England. Choose from one of its numerous peaceful villages for a relaxing break.

North Pennines AONB (Alston)

This spot has been designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and we can certainly see why. Take in the expanses of heather moorland and impressive dales; tranquillity can be found here.
