About this property

A charming fully refurbished 1850's farmhouse offering a contemporary feel and off-grid. Set in the beautiful North Devon countryside. Walking enthusiasts will be spoilt for choice with walks from your doorstep and only 11 miles from the southwest coastal path and 7 miles to Exmoor National Park which offers spectacular moorland and woodland walks. Enjoy a trip to Exmoor Zoo (6 miles) home of the Exmoor Beast, open 362 days of the year and has events at different times of the year. Only 11 miles to some of North Devon's stunning beaches which include Croyde and Woolacombe (16 miles) with its 3 miles of golden sands and one of the best places to surf in the world. Have a go at paddle boarding or other water sports and enjoy a stroll around the local shops, cafes, pubs and tearooms where you can enjoy a Devon cream tea the correct way.

Your holiday starts as you drive off the tarmac lane and onto the unmade track, which you follow for about 400m until you arrive down at the house. From the parking area take the steps and path that leads you to the front door. Walking through to the light and airy stair well, takes you to the open-plan lounge/dining/kitchen with patio doors that lead out onto the decking. Relax on the comfy sofas in front of the warming wood burner and watch a family movie on the Smart TV. The beautifully designed kitchen has everything you need to whip up breakfasts or impress your friends or family with a favourite recipe. The lovely large table is great for socializing and enjoying some home cooking and chatting about the adventures of the day. There is also a downstairs WC. Take the stairs to the four bedrooms. Two of the bedrooms have king-size beds, including the vaulted ceiling master bedroom with amazing country views, and has a walk-in shower, and hidden WC. There is also a twin room and a zip-n-link bedroom (can be made into twins by request) and completing this charming holiday home is the family bathroom oozing style with a freestanding bath, a walk-in shower, twin sinks and a WC.

The extensive grounds include three separate lawned areas and a small copse with path wearing through it. This is a place of discovery where children and four-legged friends will love running around, with tree swings, goalposts and so many areas to sit and enjoy the views. Relax on the decking area, again with spectacular views and cook dinner on the charcoal BBQ where you can dine alfresco. You may see deer, rabbits, pheasants and even badgers if you’re quite. There is a separate games barn with a full size table tennis table, a pool table and a darts board where you can while away many hours with your family.

The track to the house changes condition depending on the weather, and if the farmer is using it for moving the cows from field to milking. The first part of the track is concrete planks, it then turns to gravel and some mud, before turning back to concrete for the last section down to the houses. Regardless of the weather it is always usable in a normal family car, nobody has ever got stuck, but if wet conditions wheels and wheel arches will get muddy.

The agents were responsive and supplied a cot for our infant, the games room was fun and the garden was absolutely lovely. The drive is tricky in wet weather but the house is spacious and spotlessly clean. Beds are comfy and we enjoyed our stay.

We had an amazing stay at Hidden Valley Farmhouse, the location is idyllic and so beautiful, peaceful and tranquil. We had everything we needed and an abundance of fire logs was such a change from other properties that are stingy with supplies in that regard. It suited all age groups of our family and we shall definitely return. Tony was a wonderful host and very responsive, nothing was too much trouble. Thanks to Tony and family x

We had a lovely stay here and were blown away by how beautiful both the house and gardens were. It was idyllic and provided us with a calm getaway. We would come back here in a heartbeat.
