Guests generally enjoyed their stay at the Mayflower lodge, praising its well-equipped kitchen, comfortable furnishings, and spaciousness. The property's peaceful location and the inclusion of a hot tub were appreciated, although some guests desired more privacy for the hot tub area. While there were minor maintenance issues and suggestions for improvements, the overall experience was positive, with many guests willing to recommend the lodge and return for another stay.
The lodge received compliments for its cleanliness, with guests finding it to be tidy and well-maintained upon arrival. However, a few guests noted minor issues such as a dusty rug and sticky windows, which slightly impacted the overall impression of cleanliness.
The location was described as pleasant and peaceful, with beautiful walks nearby. Some guests found the distance from amenities and attractions to be greater than expected, but the natural setting was generally seen as a positive aspect of the lodge.
Comfort was a highlight, with guests praising the comfy beds, sofas, and overall spaciousness of the lodge. The provision of a well-equipped kitchen contributed to the comfortable stay, although some guests suggested additional towels and better curtains to improve comfort further.
Facilities were well-received, with a particularly well-equipped kitchen. However, several maintenance issues were reported, such as problems with the hot tub, wine cooler, and HDMI cable. While these did not detract significantly from the overall experience, they indicate room for improvement in facilities and maintenance.

Mayflower is a very comfortable, beautiful lodge, the hot tub is lovely. It is an ideal place to relax. We had booked for 14 nights as usual but unfortunately the alternator went on our car on the way to the lodge, trying to get a mobile mechanic was not easy, we booked the RAC mobile mechanic to do the repair, however due to difficulty sourcing the part the car did not get repaired until the day we were due to leave so we booked an extra week as had not travelled over 200 miles to just sit in the lodge or go for walks. We had a few food deliveries from Asda whilst there. We wanted a relaxing break and certainly got one and will go back as love the lodge watching the squirrels play and birds flying around by the woods. The cafe is a few minutes walk through the woods which serves lovely food. The location of Roadford Lake Lodges is ideal for trips out with Launceston being 10 minute drive. Tavistock 30 minutes away, Bideford 1 hour away, Plymouth 1 hour away and Padstow 1 hour away. All timings are approximate depending on time of day and traffic. The clothes airer still has broken wires which has been like it since our first visit in September 2023 but we took one from home to use so no problem for us. The Mayflower never fails to disappoint.

The lodge is lovely! Big choice of supermarkets a 12 minute drive away too. Wish we could have stayed longer but had to cut our stay short due to our car breaking down
Chris
But absolutely let down by the owners. Hot tub broke on the 2nd day. Owners not interested in helping. No communication what so ever. This was our 2nd holiday at this lodgeâ¦..there wont be a 3rd !!
