Stradbrook Ford is a detached, character cottage boasting a beautiful mature garden, resting in Mells, Somerset. Perfect for a multigenerational family get together, this traditional cottage offers a ground-floor bedroom along with three further bedrooms on the first floor. Arriving at the cottage, off-road parking greets you before stepping into the first of two charming sitting rooms. Sink into the sofa while the woodburning stove creates a warming amber glow while you watch TV with your loved ones, or perhaps escape to the second sitting room to indulge in a good book or watch films and box sets on the second television, while the second woodburning stove roars. Make your way to the kitchen/diner where you will find all the amenities you need to rustle up delicious dinners for your group. Gather your group to eat in the dining area while you catch up on the days events and plan another adventure. When sleep calls, head to the bedroom for some well-earned rest; the ground floor hosts a light and airy double. This bedroom has dual aspect to the garden, and its own external access. Completing the ground floor is a handy utility so you can freshen your clothes throughout your stay and a convenient cloakroom. Climb the stairs to find the remaining bedrooms, a king-size with an en-suite shower room, a double with an en-suite basin and shower, and a final twin, perfect for younger guests; all of which have been thoughtfully decorated with the character features of the property in mind. Finishing off the interior of the cottage is a family bathroom home to a bath with a shower over, giving you the option of enjoying a long soak or a quick rinse after a day of exploring. Outside, the garden is sure to become the social hub for your group in the warmer months. Take your meals alfresco and dine at the outdoor dining table with a glass of wine, or spend your days sunbathing on the sun loungers while the children seek shade in the summer house. For days out while at Stradbrook Ford, head out into the village and discover your surroundings. The small village of Mells has tremendous architecture and ancient streets with an idyllic church with churchyard, walled gardens with great privacy, and surrounding country walks. Treat your loved ones to a meal out at The Talbot Inn, which serves both food and drink, or pop to the village shop/Post Office to pick up some essentials. History buffs can take a trip to the nearby Nunney Castle to explore the remains of the grand moated castle dating back to the 14th century. The area has an abundance of walking and cycling opportunities around the country lanes and beautifully kept gardens such as Kilver Court Gardens which is just a scenic drive away and home to an array of carefully selected plants and shrubbery. Historic and sort after Frome is the nearest town, and the cities of Wells and Bath are within 15 miles. Children and animal lovers alike will relish in a day spent at Longleat, a superb zoo and safari just a short drive away and well worth visiting; the site boasts an Elizabethan house, gardens, a maze and a spectacular array of animals, both native and exotic. The house, garden and village were beautiful with all the spring flowers; the perfect place for egg hunts and welly walks. I loved the AGA in the kitchen. We didn't need to use the electric oven at all and what a well stocked kitchen it is! I was surprised not to find a radio in the kitchen at first but soon found one in a bedroom. My absolute favourite thing was sitting in a window seat, reading one of the many fantastic books on offer whilst watching the kids play in the large garden by the river. Bliss!

A superb cottage, extremely well equipped, perfectly situated to explore Bath, Cheddar Gorge, Stone Henge, Wells and surrounding area. Delicious meal at the local pub too!

Probably the most well equipped holiday home we have ever stayed in with lots of kitchen equipment so never ran out when the dishwasher was on. We had a minor drainage problem but the owner dealt with this very promptly. Mells is very pretty to wander around with a great local cafe/ shop with Post Office & a local play park perfect for little ones. Lots of bluebells & wild garlic around. All in all a lovely place to stay.
