During the day venture into the heart of the town to pick up essentials or enjoy a well-earned break from the kitchen with a delicious meal at The Box Tree, the Black Hat, Emporio or treat your loved ones to a traditional afternoon tea at Betty’s Café Tea Rooms. The town is also home to a golf club where you can test your swing and a tennis club which hosts the prestigious Ilkley Trophy tournament annually in the summer, an outdoor swimming pool and the wonderful Darwin Gardens. History is woven throughout the countryside that encompasses the town; discover the National Trust site of East Riddlesden Hall, the impressive 12th-century Skipton Castle and the Bronte Parsonage Museum which displays the sister’s unique contribution to literature. Outdoor enthusiasts can venture further afield to the Yorkshire Dales National Park to traverse the myriad of breath-taking walks and trails woven throughout the park, all of which guarantee picturesque panoramas over the English countryside. Explore all this and more at The Kingsway.

Wharfedale is the most visited of the Yorkshire Dales, and the historic spa town of Ilkley serves as its hub. Beautiful, natural landscapes can be seen in this region. It's a walker's dream, with miles and miles of pristine terrain. A carefully landscaped Victorian scene, complete with two semi-artificial lakes and the river Wharfe winding through the centre of town, can be found high up on the moors next to the white-walled cottage of White Wells (where once donkeys carried gout-ridden gentlemen to be doused in the icy-cold moorland spring). The architecture and atmosphere in Ilkley are very Victorian and Edwardian. The streets are bordered with trees and are lined with businesses, taverns, restaurants, and cafés. On The Grove, you'll find Bettys, widely regarded as the best tea shop in Yorkshire. The park is beautiful, and there are both outdoor and indoor swimming pools, as well as a picnic space for families to enjoy. The breath-takingly gorgeous 84-mile long "Dales Way" hike begins here. The area around Bolton Abbey, especially the stretch of river leading to the 'Strid,' is one of the most beautiful in the region. The song "On Ilkla Moor Baht at" is often considered to be the unofficial state song of Yorkshire because of its focus on Ilkley Moor.

We were well briefed by the owner, who also dealt with an initial (quite trivial but important) check-in concern with immediate action and generosity. The house offers easy access not only to all that Ilkley has to offer, but is walking distance from immediate access to the Dales and Ilkley Moor itself. We will be back!

Nice and comfortable property. No shoes allowed on carpets. Bring slippers! Tv a bit small for the room and not visible to whole room. It rained a bit so we did watch tv. Ilkley has good pubs and restaurants. Good running and walking. Lovely stay.

Fantastic location, close to shops, cafes & the riverside park. Beds were super comfortable and the kitchen was really well equipped. Thank you!
