What our customers say about their holidays

    • Mark - Verified booking

Sykes Holiday Cottages has NO customer service.

We asked for the twin beds to be made as a double and it wasn’t. There was NO way to contact them and the WhatsApp messages were answered by a computer. Why is there no human being to speak to? The internet site just went round in circles and no phone number was answered. Dreadful experience. The information book was out of date and there was no paper for visitors to add comments or recommendations. There were no leaflets or where to go and what to do as we have had in other rentals. There is no shaver point: no coffee pot of any kind: no kitchen scissors: no chairs in the bedroom so nowhere to put some clothes: no hooks. We saw comments on line with the same issues and they had not been rectified. Poor! The so called garden was just some very scrubby uncut grass. The TV needed rebooting every time we used it! The outside light at the back of the property was faulty and we had to waste time waiting for a maintenance man to come and fix it. It was permanently on and the thin blinds in the bedroom were useless. The response from the maintenance team was quick and very efficient. The car park needs clear labelling as this caused issues with 3 cars for the occupants of the penthouse flat. However, the location was good and an easy walk into Caernarfon for pubs and restaurants as well as Tescos just up the road. The flat is light and spacious but basically equipped.

We have stayed at this property a few times now because we love the location.

On the plus side, 1.Allocated parking space is definitely a bonus. 2.plentiful hot water 3. Furniture is comfortable, but the double bed is too small. 4. Kitchen & bathroom facilities are ok. NEGATIVES 1. The TV in the lounge is old. The remote doesn't work properly & it doesn't maintain the Internet connection so we were not able to access any apps. The picture quality is awful. 2. Lounge curtains over the Juliet balcony have been removed. Street lights stream through making the TV picture worse and raising privacy issues as when in the lounge you are in full view of the people on the road and those sitting at the bus stop below. 3. We found a broken dish, glued back together and put in the cupboard, the hair dryer nozzle was also broken. 4. Oven is temperamental 5. Black mould at the back of the bath taps and on the bath mat. 6. Only 1 bin in the entire apartment We are really disappointed as we love Anglesey & love staying here , but we feel that although on the surface it looks lovely, it has not been maintained well & some of the appliances are dated. The removal of the lounge curtains sound like a trivial issue but it seems like no consideration has been given to the people actually staying there. All issues were reported to Sykes & the owner, we had no response until the day we left.

28 Coedrath Path’s quiet location, within just a few minutes walk from Saundersfoot’s beaches, harbour, bars and restaurants, was perfect for us.

The apartment was well equipped with everything we needed for our stay. There was a hair dryer in the apartment, which would have been nice to know beforehand. The allocated parking space right below the apartment was very convenient. The grass area in between apartment blocks was easily accessible for the dog, but make sure your dog is kept on the lead as there were lots of lovely rabbits around. Plenty of dog friendly bars and cafe’s in Saundersfoot and the beaches, right of the harbour, were also great for dog owners, being quieter during peak season. The apartment was clean and well appointed, however the glass around the veranda was very dirty and spoiled the whole sitting outside with a drink and nibbles experience; a shame as we had lovely weather during our stay. The stairwell up to the apartment was grubby and there was mould developing in the corner seal of the bath and around the bath fittings. Despite this, we would go back as for us, the positives outweighed negatives.

The shower temperature was not that hot even on the highest setting.

The outside light above the front door seemed to stay on all night which glared through the glass panel of the door and lit up the corridor and bedrooms as there were glass panels above the internal doors also, so it would be useful to be able to turn this light off. The seating in the living room was not enough for a family of 4, seeing as the apartment sleeps 4 people. Lovely touch with the welcome cookies and chocolate. Very clean inside, not so clean on the way into the apartment from the outside (stairwell) so could be off putting but we didn't mind. Good amount of kitchen equipment. It would be useful to have an extra duvet or blankets as the double bed's duvet was very small. One side of the patio door in the lounge didn't open but not sure if that is a safety feature. TV good and access to so many channels great. Great amount of storage in the bedrooms Great location, nice an quiet, nice gardens. Great that we could have our dog with us, so pet friendly.

This ground floor flat was very hard to find.

Put the postcode in and it takes you further up the road. It took us a good 30 to 45 mins to find the flat. Outside of the flat is not really very welcoming on a busy main road looking out onto a black stoned wall from across the road. However, the inside was very clean, tidy and comfy. There was a smell of damp in the bathroom and evidence of this between the shower and toilet. The flat was cold on arrival and it was very difficult to find the central heating controls, but they were found and was able to take the chill off the flat. The bedding and towels were all nice and fresh, also the whole of the flat was spotless. The flats location was ideal because I was attending a sportive at The Harbour. But on booking remember the flat is situated on a busy main road which limits (if warm ) choices of opening windows to let in fresh air due to the noise from the road. I also felt like if l left the windows open someone would gain easy access to the flat.
