What our customers say about their holidays

    • Colin - Verified booking

The positive is that the view is stunning from the lounge and bedroom even on a cloudy day, also the property was clean & tidy when we arrived and the guy that we saw when we arrived was welcoming and polite.

The negatives are Lounge - settee & chair uncomfortable to sit on for any length of time, the sliding patio door hard to open when first arrived thought it was going to come off the bottom runner, once opened it ran along ok but the open/close catch was hard to close/ open for one of the party. As there’s not a door to this room you couldn’t shut in the heat coming from the one small rad so felt cold all the time and didn’t make it pleasant to sit around and relax., Bedroom - uncomfortable bed, out of the 4 pillows HR only 1 had a pillow protector on ?, every time you turned not sure if it was the mattress topper but it made a ruffling sound which wasn’t good and woke the other one up. The quilt itself was thin and also was too small for the duvet cover, the duvet cover had a hole at one of the seams. The window hinge was rusty and black starting to appear. Bathroom - freezing, old discoloured rusting towel rail didnt look good but didn’t warm the room at all, the shower though the water was hot the pressure seemed minimal so the spray out wasn’t great. Couple of windows shot - whether the seals have gone, one was the big window in the kitchen and the other the small opening part in the entrance lobby. Balcony - looking tired decking & chair. Some of these are issues that wouldn’t be able to be a quick fix so do understand but just not a property we will be returning too as it just wasn’t comfortable to relax in and this is what we were looking for.

We loved this place! The owner was very friendly and welcoming. Fresh milk, wine and homemade buns were waiting for us which was very much appreciated after our long journey. This place had everything we needed along with a little basket of dog items (bowl, blanket, poo bags, towels and treats) - another thoughtful gesture. The accommodation was not only clean and comfortable but had an air of luxury about it with a spacious bathroom containing a large walk-in shower and a jacuzzi bath. The bedroom, also very spacious has a comfortable bed with little lights all around it. It felt quite romantic and looked so pretty. The little lights were also in the living area and the “safe” candles were a lovely touch. The kitchen area seems in two parts but don’t worry, you quickly get used to it and it has everything you need. Whilst you have to go down steps to the garden area, it is so worth it! It is an enclosed and private garden, this was important for us as we took our old dog with us and we knew he was safe. We very much enjoyed the hot tub and a real stroke of genius having the shepherds hut to change in, use the loo, store items etc. The artificial grass was a bonus too. So much nicer underfoot than shingle which we’ve previously had in holiday cottages. The location is beautiful and a good base for exploring Cornwall. Definitely recommend. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

This was a last minute booking on a whim for a birthday.

We love Sennen and hadn’t been there for a few years so while browsing the area online I spotted The Lookout and the view alone sold it to me immediately. The booking process couldn’t have been easier and the owner, Jason, was quick to offer us all the information and support we needed. We were in desperate need of peace and nature and this is what The Lookout provides. It’s a lovely bright and clean apartment with a view to die for. Every need and comfort is catered for and listening to the waves and the birds from a comfy bed is pure bliss. Plenty of walking starts right outside the door and on to the South West Coastal Path with nearby amenities in Sennen Cove plus lots of attractions and sights also within a short driving distance. You’re wonderfully hidden from the world at The Lookout and you can expect muddy boots, occasional narrow lanes and a beautiful, simpler way of life. Oh and there’s a wonderful Indian takeaway in Penzance that delivers (Just Eat) to the door on that night you just can’t be bothered to cook. Just perfect. We happily recommend The Lookout and we’ll definitely be back. Thank you Jason.

This was our third time staying with you over the years, and we were very happy to return and enjoy the amazing views The Lookout has to offer.

We especially want to say thanks to Jason for his warm welcome and all his assistance with our stay, he could not have been more helpful. The cottage has had a spruce up since we last stayed, which was much appreciated. Like others have commented, the mattress would really benefit from an upgrade, it was thin and lumpy, which lets the place down. Although the cottage was well equipped with most things you would need for a stay, if you’re used to self-catering places that have a good selection of condiments, either supplied or left by others residents, this isn’t the case here. So arrive prepared, or know you’ll likely be doing a shop in short order. As well, supplying a bit of milk and a few tea bags would be a nice touch, especially as most people will have had a journey getting here. The cottage is an ideal size for two. All that to say, as soon as we walked through the door we remembered why we have stayed here before: views that are second to none, scenic walks on your doorstep, and good access to some of the most amazing beaches around at Sennen and Gwynver.

    • Bill - Verified booking

First discovered The Lookout 15/20 years ago, with the previous owner.

Would highly recommend it, except if I do that it could make it more difficult to book there in future! Jason and the crew were most helpful. I don't mind if you only publish the above as feedback. The following points are only small, but could be helpful for future customers stays. Make another key, and let it be known it's available, especially when there are four staying. Some may want to walk, others drive elsewhere. Pans were a bit neat for four, and the frying pan has seen better days. Couldn't find a potato peeler, and the tin opener left ragged edges. It worked, but someone could get a nasty cut from it. Please don't take the last paragraph as criticism. If you're not told about them, you can't rectify things! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and as said earlier would have no hesitation in recommending it to others. Indeed have already informed friends and neighbours about it. I've given permission for you to publish my feedback, but there is a caveat. I don't wish my name to be published. I'll go along with "Bill Plymouth,"at a push, but no further. Thanks. Bill
