What our customers say about their holidays

    • Jane - Verified booking

This holiday let is in a fabulous position.

On reading the reviews it was accurate in many ways. The view was spectacular, the fact that it was so quiet yet on a busy street was lovely. The facilities provided at the place were very good. There were even binoculars to watch the boats, which was great. However, the beds in the single bed room were a little lumpy, though the big bed in the main room was fine. The big issue was that the place was "grubby". This was despite notices in the place about Covid19 and our need to wipe surfaces etc. The reminded came by text at the end of the week about following Covid guidelines. No problem. But the accommodation basically needed a "deep clean". The sinks and loo were fine and clearly had been cleaned. But the 1st thing I noticed was the filthy bathroom mirror in the main bedroom en-suite. Then the thick layer of dust on the top of the headboard. There was a thick layer of dust on the cooker hood that you could write your name in, and although surfaces in the kitchen looked as though they were wiped, there were finger marks and smears over the doors and sides of the upper and lower cupboards. I feel there needs to be a proper maintenance schedule. I understand weeds grow quite quickly, but the many on the balcony seemed they'd been around for some time. And to enjoy the view, it's a shame to have to see past the mucky finger marks and grime on the windows. Surely a window cleaner could be available on changeover day? Also one of the glass plates on the balcony edge has dropped from it's fitting. It was such a shame as premium prices are being charged for this place, it was gorgeous in many ways, but we have never come across this lack of cleanliness in any accommodation we have stayed in previously.

Firstly the apartment was as advertised in the Sykes web page.

What we didn't appreciate until we got there is the lack of ventilation and clean fresh air. The apartment has two french doors only for ventilation, no actual windows that open. This is fine during the day when you can have the doors open, but is no good at night. We stayed in June and it wasn't hot, but still the accommodation is stuffy and warm. I can only imagine what it would be like if it was hot. There are expelair units in the bathrooms and the second bedroom, but these only remove stale air but there is no fresh air coming into the apartment at night with the french doors closed. This apartment needs some kind of air conditioning. Also the kitchen units have been badly fitted. The pelmet that sits underneath the floor units kept falling down on both sides. The apartment on first glance gave the impression of cleanliness but as you looked closer the it was obvious that the apartment hadn't been cleaned very well. On a positive note the apartment was well laid out and ideal for two couples staying and the view is spectacular. Also the apartment is in an ideal situation for the beach and plenty of shops etc. Overall we did enjoy our holiday but I do believe that in July and August anyone staying there will struggle with the ventilation. ****** I'm glad you enjoyed your stay and the spectacular views at Buena Vista. Thank you for your feedback. I appreciate your comments regarding the ventilation. We are currently in the process of supplying an air-con unit. I was surprised to read your comments regarding cleanliness as it is a new flat and our housekeeper is excellent. We make every effort to ensure the apartment is cleaned to the highest standards and will continue to do so.

We booked this property for a short break for a group of four.

The property itself is easy to fin and the rooms all a good size and very comfortable - the kitchen with its large table was a favourite meeting/talking spot and the lounge very comfortable. The bedrooms were a good size and beds comfortable, although clothes storage is quite limited for anything other than a short break and the lower ground bedroom has quite a low ceiling for those that are tall. The bathrooms are as described although it would be beneficial to have some form of shower in there as a bath alone isn't hugely practical (but does look good), as it means you really need to share the downstairs wet room if you just shower. The wet room itself is slightly problematic as it gets and stays very wet, as does everything inside it, including things like toilet rolls - especially when four people are using it. Whilst it wasn't a huge problem and didn't detract from our stay it doesn't make for the best experience. Overall the place is really nice and in a convenient location for things in the area, and road noise wasn't an issue (not even the band in the social club directly opposite - unless you are a very light sleeper. As long as you are happy sharing a bathroom the convenience and comfort make this property worth considering.

      Overall great stay!

Perfect central location! Was concerned when I saw it was on a high street but you can not even tell no noise or anything which makes it great, busy at front paradise at the back with the view! Few niggly bits is that we stayed August 4-11th and had no idea board masters festival was on, so this made the already extremely difficult parking even worse, as they close the car parks! I think maybe in off peak months you would manage but after speaking to locals, parking in general in August is difficult and I feel there could be more info on the listing about events and also parking tips I.e using the Asda permit option / renting a drive which we found out about after 3 days of speaking to multiple local shop owners! It’s a shame a permit can’t be offered within the price of the property! In terms of the property we just felt it was ready for a deep clean, not a major issue but for the cost, that made it a 4 star review not a 5 for me, all reed diffuses empty, behind sofas not been touched for a very long time, dust inside wardrobes and on the fans ect and the carpets are well overdue a clean. Like I say it wasn’t bad but it would be expected for me at the price. But would I stay again! Absolutely!

Unlike other users we had no trouble with noise apart from the Social Club over the road until quite late (Saturday night only) - switching bookings to Friday would avoid this happening on guest arrival days.

The listing was fine, but stairs down to the central heating control is not ideal. "Bathroom with bath, basin and WC" should not be considered (level) Ground Floor Accommodation as it is up three steps. Instead of showing multiple photos of the tourist attractions it would be better to show the hallway and steps up to the toilet. Handrails there and in the bath area would be useful for the older guest. The washing machine is in an outhouse, best accessed through the downstairs bedroom rather than the outside steps which have no guardrail. No DVD player, but it might have been a slot in the TV - didn't look. Channel coverage much more limited than Freeview or - considering there are dishes - Freesat. The road is very busy but not disturbing, the morning rush and school run providing endless enjoyment over breakfast. People parking close to the drive entrance made access difficult at times; I managed to turn the car in the parking area because it has cameras but it has unfenced edges with 3-4 feet drop. With two cars it would have been difficult.
