What our customers say about their holidays

    • Michael - Verified booking

You know that moment: you walk into a property and you just know this is something very special.

Well, now double that feeling, and you might begin to appreciate just how much we loved our stay at Oakwood Stables. Of course, we were incredibly lucky. Conwy, which is so quaint, was holding its annual food-fest the weekend we arrived, so the town was buzzing. Then, for the whole week we had wall-to-wall sunshine - tell me about it. The restaurants round and about are excellent and one (Signatures) was top fine-dining, and inexplicably inexpensive for such quality. But it was the property that starred. Spacious, beautifully presented on arrival, warm and welcoming. TVs in the lounge area and bedroom, a brand new walk in shower room. And all at the most attractive price. The owners (Jonus, Amanda and family) live literally next door, and are a delight, never once intruding throughout our week's break (but what a bonus to have owners so close at hand). We usually take our autumn break in Normandy, but the North Wales scenery is simply indescribable: to our shame we had absolutely no idea. We even found ourselves feeding horses in the nearby field every morning before breakfast, something we would never have imagined in our wildest dreams. Beaumaris, Caernarfon and Penrhyn were great days out, and we were lucky to walk into Caernarfon Station just in time to catch the Welsh Highland Railway, taking us into the most breath-taking scenery. For us, it was a break following a couple of Summer holidays, the most recent somewhat tiring (even for a pretty fit 74 and 70 years old couple) but there's no question we will be back no matter the circumstances. Oakwood Stables is perfect for any age-group, from the very young to the very mature, AND WE ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!

Super cute little cottage right in the heart of Conwy A lovely spot for our honeymoon! Very well equipped and well decorated, super comfy kingsize bed with luxury bedding. Lots of nice restaurants and bars very close by....Alfredos is great, and the Albion has loads of local beers, and gin. A few frustrating things... The owner had changed the entry code and let Original Cottages know but this wasn't passed on, this could have been a real issue if we'd arrived late etc. I'd normally expect milk and ground coffee at a cottage on arrival, not really an issue as there is a spar 2 mins away. There are 2 TVs but neither of them are smart TVs....super shocked by this in 2023, and meant we had to resort to our ipad rather than a comfy watching of a movie. There is street parking but only about 50% of the time and that was mid week in March so if you're coming in the summer I'd assume that would be 0%.

We enjoyed our short stay at Oakwood Stables.

The beautiful property had everything we needed including shower gel, hand soap, washing up liquid plus cleaning materials. The bed was so comfortable which is important to myself due to me suffering from arthritis. The view from the garden is stunning you can even see the sea on a clear day. We met the host Amanda when we arrived. She made us most welcome and was on hand next door if we needed advice or help. We have been telling our friends and family to get booking. The Conwy area is lovely with lots to do. Colwyn Bay has a gorgeous beach. We spent a day at Bodnant Gardens National Trust property. The gardens woods and waterfalls are so beautiful. There is a cafe at the entrance and a snack bar near the river selling yummy pasties nice coffee and ice creams. We hope to return sometime and will stay for a 7 days

Had a fantastic week long stay in the cottage. Location was absolutely perfect within the Conwy town walls but a stones throw to the main highstreet. However, couldn't believe how quiet it was also. The accommodation was the perfect size for the two of us and a dog. Furnished to a high standard and one of the most comfortable beds we have slept in whilst on holiday. Great little secure outdoor space with good quality furniture. Parking was occasionally available on the street. However the long stay car park was a very short walk away and reasonably priced. It's our 4th time to Conwy and this is the best accommodation we have stayed in. We are already looking at the diary to see when we can come back and stay hear again

The accommodation was lovely and clean.

Great facilities. The hosts were brilliant. I had problems with the oven. Rang the owners and the husband came around very quickly. There was nothing wrong with the oven, just my stupidity unable to put it on. We had a lovely chat. The next day Sian came around with some gifts for our 10 year old granddaughter Molly. Molly was thrilled. What a wonderful gesture.. Parking was difficult at times. My wife and I are both 76 years old and my wife had difficulty coming back from town because of the steep hills. We have a very happy time and loved getting back to the house. Molly loved it there,
