What our customers say about their holidays

    • Mrs Groves - Verified booking

It’s a beautiful property, being a country farm house located in a remote and peaceful rural location with a fine pub only minutes walk away. We had lots of space to spread indoors and the garden was really large. Perfect for a dog to prance around in freely and securely. This was also a fantastically peaceful place to sit and enjoy the weather. Indoors had an excellent stock of books and board games too, which was an added bonus. The beds were soft and comfortable. The house was very clean and tidy upon arrival too. The kitchen was well stocked with equipment and appliances all of which were easy to use We particularly enjoyed the little arrival gift bag of milk and goodies. Thank you. The house is an excellent base for walking, with footpaths leading to the beach, across some spectacular countryside, from the front gate. We mixed eating out and cooking in over our weeks stay. The Eels Foot Inn (uber convenient being around the corner) has a great menu and fine ales and wines. There’s also numerous great foodie pubs within a short driving distance. We particularly enjoyed The Poachers Pocket at Saxmundham. All in all, a very peaceful and relaxing Suffolk holiday home.

    • Mrs Clare Griffiths - Verified booking

On the whole, it was a gorgeous property. Lovely house and garden in a wonderful location. The decor is wonderful. There were a few really major issues however. (1) Fungus growing in a damp patch on the wall in one of the twin bedrooms, where my children slept - unsightly and a health hazard. (2) Beds - the single beds in the room nearest the bathroom were very hard and lumpy, and uncomfortable to sleep on. Also, the double bed did not have a mattress protector on it, only a top sheet. A mattress protector or undersheet is absolutely essential and I just couldn’t believe there wasn’t one there. (3) The Fridge door was misaligned and required a lot of force to open and close. It was almost too much for my elderly mother in law to manage it. The door handle is loose - if it falls off, it will be almost impossible to open and close the fridge which will really spoil a holiday. (4) A new loo brush is needed upstairs as the current one leaks. It really was a nice place to stay and in many ways Willow Cottage is absolutely stunning but unfortunately the issues mentioned above have a really negative impact on the place. Were the above issuers corrected, I would definitely return.

A fabulously clean, comfortable and well appointed cottage. The bed is extremely comfortable and a good power shower. All the sheets, towels and soaps are excellent quality. Definitely the cleanest dog friendly cottage we’ve stayed in. The large garden is extremely secure with discreet wire fencing surrounding the whole of it. A great base for exploring the Suffolk coast. There is also a pub at each end of the road, easily walkable, but will need a torch at night. We favoured The Queens Head, Blyford 0.7 miles. Great food and fantastic staff. The Star Inn didn’t have a chef when we went, so no food. Parking is the only issue here. There is space for one car outside, but you will need to tuck it tight against the wall. However, there is a parking bay 25 meters further down the road. If you get a chance go to the Queen’s Head Inn at Bramfield. A 2.5 mile drive, but amazing. We will definitely book here again. Thankyou.

      This cottage was THE DREAM.

We had the best stay and it was so incredibly well equipped. We had been meant to take our sausage dog with us (but she’s on holiday at my mums) which meant she missed out on the cutest bag of treats in the lovely welcome pack! We were in Aldeburgh for the children to learn to sail for the week and the cottage has an outdoor tap (to rinse wetsuits and salty kit) and a lovely sun-trap garden to dry everything. We have stayed at quite a few ‘best of Suffolk’ cottages in Aldeburgh, and for us this one had everything. Amazing proximity to Tesco & Coop too so the children could have a bit of independence and go themselves. We will 100% rent this place again. Lovely communication from the owners too. Bliss.

    • Mrs Campen - Verified booking

Japonica cottage was a lovely place to stay for a relaxing break with our two dogs! The decorating was done to a high standard, every room was fresh and clean! The whole place was very clean, with lots of thought being given to making guests feel comfortable, and at home! Myself, my husband and our two large dogs had a lovely week there! The garden was large enough for them to have a good run, without fear of them escaping! It was very central for visiting Southwold, Aldeburgh, and surrounding areas! Lots of places to eat, and, an Edwardian cinema in Leiston which is well worth a visit if you like films! All in all…..couldn’t fault anything!
