What our customers say about their holidays

    • Mrs Botly - Verified booking

This cottage is set in the owners beautiful garden and is surrounded by gorgeous plants. The stunning riverside views can be seen when you reach the bottom of the garden. The garden is definitely the highlight of this cottage and is what gives it its 4 star rating. There is access to a boat, however it is a little on the small side but would be good for one small adult or a child. The cottage itself contains the basics needed for your stay and has a view of the owners beautiful and well maintained flowerbed and lawn. The garden is large and is a full time job for the owners who can be seen working in the garden around the property every day. A great place to stay if you are a fan of horticulture. There are plenty of places of interest away from the cottage to explore.

Thank you so much for the warm welcome is has been lovely meeting yourself and Molly. This was our first holiday with Holly & Zima and I am so please we spent it at Akenfield Cottage. Thank you for the supply of extra towels and treats,. We had the entire spectrum in terms of weather during our stay but nothing that prevented us from doing what we planned, Aldeburgh, Thorpeness, Felixstowe, Dunwich Woodbridge, we have two very tired and fulfilled puppies. Your gardens are stunning and it has been wonderful hearing/seeing nature you rarely do in the City (including a Jay on our last morning) Thanks again, hope to see you again in the future.

What a little gem! We had the most comfortable and pleasant stay at the Forge and the owners had thought of everything to make our stay enjoyable. The location was peaceful with lovely views over the countryside and it was ideally situated to visit Aldeburgh, Thorpness, Southwold and other attractions. We particularly enjoyed a visit to the Snape Maltings. The generous welcome pack was a lovely touch and our only regret was that we were not staying longer. We hope to be back and will definitely recommend the Forge (and its neighbouring cottage) to friends and family. Thank you!

    • Mr Colegate - Verified booking

We found the property fairly easily following the directions given, the house and gardens actually exceeded our expectations, we were a little apprehensive about going on holiday in the present Covid restrictions, but on arrival found the accommodation spotless, it had obviously been cleaned to a high standard. After a journey of over 200 miles we were pleasantly surprised not only to find real milk and a box of shortbread biscuits with tea and coffee sachets, but also a bonus of a bottle of Frascati. Overall we spent a very relaxing week here, highly recommended.

    • Mo & Reg - Verified booking

The greeting and warmth received upon our arrival continued throughout our two weeks stay. The accommodation etc lived up to our expectations in that it proved to be very relaxing, comfortable and set in a tranquil part of Suffolk. No stone had been left un-turned to make our stay as enjoyable as can be. We thoroughly enjoyed going through the 'air lock' (inner and outer gate) to both enter and exit the premises, with Molly chasing around trying to avoid capture. Doubtless we shall return one day! Thank you Ruth & David & Molly
