What our customers say about their holidays

      The property was absolutely gorgeous.

It was warm and cosy when we got there and spotlessly clean. Lovely big fridge and freezer. And loads of things provided that Sykes didn’t know, and we couldn’t ask directly of the owner so ended up bringing coffee, tea, salt, pepper, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, cleaning cloths etc when it was all, very helpfully, provided. The garden is secure enough for the dogs to walk around as long as someone stays with them. Beautiful views and the goats are just gorgeous. And of course, Percy the peacock deserves his own separate write up! The only 2 niggles were the double bed upstairs, thin mattress on a VERY hard base. All other beds good though. And no instructions on how to work the oven or kettle. The kettle we worked out but the oven was really hit and miss. Thankfully my brother had come across similar and knew the magic touch. Other than that, I would definitely stay here again. Sykes communication was quite good from start to finish, good instructions etc and then the owner himself text me on the day with more detailed instructions and was super helpful in leaving the door unlocked so we didn’t struggle in the dark. Really thoughtful. Plus the most beautiful Christmas tree with lights and a lovely cake, mince pies and milk and Prosecco were also left which was a really lovely touch and gratefully received. All in all a great success Thankyou.

We stayed at Twosome in Jan 2025, it was very pretty and just like the photos on the website.

The owner greeted us when we arrived and had made sure the cottage was nicely warmed for us when we arrived. He was friendly and very informative about places to go in the area. Lovely bottle of fresh apple juice and jug of milk was left out for us which we thought was a nice touch. The central heating is very good so no need for us to use the wood burner. However just a couple of things to be aware of ..as the property is dog friendly we had a very muddy dog most days after walking around the adjoining fields so by the 3rd day we had several wet muddy towels draped everywhere. We thought it might have been beneficial to replace the dishwasher what we didnt think was necessary with a washing machine. Plus a mop and bucket would have been handy to clean the floors as they are painted white.Cushions on sofa and arm chair could do with a freshen up but other than that a beautiful little country retreat.

A good base for exploring Suffolk & nearby is Halesworth - a pretty market town with a variety of independent shops & eateries plus a pleasant riverside walk.

The ‘cottage’ adjoins the owners’ house and Jacqui came round to welcome us on the first day with homemade jam. A welcome pack was provided. The property is a listed building and it has been sympathetically restored whilst including modern comforts. There’s an area outside the cottage designated for the use of guests during their stay, part of much larger communal gardens, but it isn’t obvious from the property description that it is not entirely enclosed and close to a very busy A road. Also the communal gardens have ponds & hidden ditches (part of a moat). The owners’ dog and dogs staying at the other holiday cottages share the gardens. We were disappointed that we couldn’t enjoy sitting out in ‘our’ garden with our dogs off their leads. If you have children they would also need to be supervised. If we didn’t have the dogs with us we would have had a more enjoyable stay.

Very confusing as instructions incorrectly stated the barn had an orange door, the proprietor had to stand in the road to wave us down as it is a green door.

It was very dangerous pulling out into the road as it is on a bend and there are overgrown trees blocking the view of oncoming traffic, a mirror on the other side of the road would be very beneficial. The vegetation around the barn could do with cutting down as opening windows was a bit difficult. There were no instructions for any of the kitchen equipment and there was no colander. None of this affected our stay though, a bit of tlc needed on it otherwise we had a lovely time. The Guernsey goats and the peacock were lovely. The welcome pack was appreciated with fresh eggs and wild flowers. The barn itself is well equipped for 6 people and it is very central to visit the surrounding areas. Found the nearest pubs are in Halesworth, The King's Head and The Angel. Had a roast at the Queen's Head in Bramfield which was lovely.

This is a beautiful period property.

The owners were very welcoming, came to check we was OK, lovey welcome pack, we could make a cup of tea and have a biscuit before we unloaded the car. The open fire was all made up ready to light later that evening. Everything is there that you need. Beds very comfortable and handy with the upstairs toilet. We would come back again but in one of the other properties. We did read about the steep staircase, but by the end of the week it was just a bit to much for us oldies!!, but for younger people it's ok. A few little things that the owners are getting round to is the huge pot holes in the drive and the fishing pond needs some attention. But other than that a lovely, relaxing holiday was had. Look forward to seeing the owners again in the future.
