What our customers say about their holidays

    • D Cottrell - Verified booking

Our stay in Southwold. We've always loved Southwold but some of the holiday lets don't allow dogs and some are very over priced. We've stayed once before in a rental and also in the two hotels. These stays were good but compared to our stay at Bovis Cottage they just don't compare in any way. So we arrived for a 10 day stay. We couldn't have been better pleased. The first 2 days our grown up sons, aged 20 and 23 were with us as well. So 4 adults and 2 dogs in the cottage at night! There was bags of room it was great. The cottage itself is very good. The location even better. You are situated at the start of the High Street. so all of what is going on is at your door step. We could walk down the High Street and shops, go to the pier and the sea front. Or we could turn left and go across the common for a nice walk. Or turn right and make our way down to the harbour for fresh sea food, fish and more. We had a great time at a cottage that couldn't be better placed for a great break. I would recommend for a family as well as its a great big garden front and back.

Lovely cottage in a prime Southwold spot.

Cosy enough for myself and two children. There was an issue with the dishwasher which got stuck on a cycle overnight and leaked on the floor. Everything had to be handwashed as it wasn't clean. (Comments had been written in the visitors book by previous guests about the dishwasher not cleaning for them too.) The cold tap in the kitchen was leaking and without draining board facilities this was becoming a bit of a worktop issue. In addition, the shower tray in the bathroom was close to overflowing due to slow drainage. No doubt linked to the age of the house drains; but could potentially become a problem at some point. I reported all issues to the holiday company and they have said they will act on the feedback. I hope it's sorted before the next letting.

This is a little gem on the Suffolk coast. The location is superb, we thought the position right next to the water was just delightful, a very peaceful place to watch the world go by. We enjoyed some lovely walks and enjoyed the fresh fish we bought from Samantha K's fish shop which is a stone's throw away. The cottage itself has 4 bedrooms, all of a decent size with plenty of blankets and interesting books to read. Some decor is a little tired and the kitchen is a bit higgledy piggledy but we found this all part of the charm and character of the place. We really enjoyed borrowing the binoculars for a spot of birdwatching and reading all the bird books to find out what we had seen! Overall, a gorgeous little spot which we would certainly return to.

This is a delightful detached bungalow with great outside space and summer house to enjoy. It is nicely located on the edge of Southwold on a quiet road and with great views at the front over the marshes to Reydon. Off-street parking is an advantage here. Inside, the property is full of character, and was very comfortable for the two of us. The kitchen and dining area is a nicely spacious and well equipped. Thank you for the starter pack of goodies which we enjoyed. We'd be happy to recommend Wolsey Cottage to others and would consider staying here again.

Something magical about Southwold. Needed a lot more time to explore - even though there's nothing there! (Well, no Hanging Gardens of Babylon or herds of Wildebeest sweeping across the plain ...). Actually, everything is there, but on an unshowy, unpretentious small scale. The harbour (where we stayed) is strangely, scruffily, romantic; the cottage had all you'd want for accommodation & facilities - loads of books & games as well - & had a sort of low key quirky charm. It has secrets, Southwold. I love it.
