Guests say

The Bridge House in Southwold receives praise for its well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and excellent location close to the beach and town. Guests appreciate the spaciousness, constant hot water, and the added conveniences of an EV charger and onsite parking. The garden is described as lovely and relaxing, despite some comments about needing tidying. Some guests mentioned minor issues with the shower facilities and room sizes, but overall the property is highly regarded for a pleasant stay.

The property is consistently described as clean and tidy upon arrival, indicating a high standard of cleanliness. No significant complaints about cleanliness were noted.

The location is frequently highlighted as excellent, being very close to the beach, pier, and within a short walk to the town, making it an ideal spot for holidaymakers.

Comfort is well-regarded with mentions of great beds and constant hot water. However, some guests found the downstairs shower and double room cramped, slightly affecting the comfort score.

Facilities are generally praised, especially the well-equipped kitchen and the availability of an EV charger. However, points are deducted for maintenance issues such as the need for garden tidying and improvements to the shower facilities.

Guests were pleasantly surprised by welcome gifts such as wine, biscuits, and Prosecco, reflecting thoughtfulness. However, it should be noted that such gestures are a bonus and not guaranteed with every stay.

About this property

A detached seaside house, settled into the salty air of Southwold, located just 2 minutes walk from the pier and beach.

Interiors are simply stylish; primarily crisp clean white backgrounds with pops of colour added in soft furnishings and accessories. Doors to the garden from the living area and kitchen make this a great holiday home for families in the summer months, and the wood burner adds a cosy touch in the winter.

Secure parking for two cars in such a prime location in this seaside town is a huge asset, there is also the added benefit of an electric vehicle charging point!

Ground floor

The main entrance to The Bridge House is off the drive, opening directly into a welcoming hallway with access to the double and shower room, stairs rising to the first floor and opening to the living area and kitchen ahead of you. The original five finger oak parquet with a light stain runs through the majority of the ground floor.

Living Room

Effectively open plan with entrance off the entrance hall into this stylish living space, and opening into the kitchen/dining room. Great at any time of the year, this room has an open fire for cosy evenings and sliding doors to the garden for warmer weather. Two deep sofas invite you to relax in front of the wall mounted TV and there are a couple of extra chairs.

Kitchen/Dining Room

The modern kitchen opens off the living room with doors to the utility room and garden. The dining table has six chairs with an extra couple of folding chairs in the utility room for extra guests. Units wrap around two walls with integrated dishwasher, under counter fridge and impressive Cuisinemaster (Leisure) stove with five rings, two ovens and a separate grill. There’s a coffee machine and a charcoal BBQ.

Utility Room

Useful space with additional storage in a fridge/freezer (four shelves and veggie boxes in the fridge and three drawers in the freezer), plus a washing machine and dryer.

Ground Floor Bedroom

Bright bedroom furnished with a small double bed (4ft, hence +1 on the description), bedside drawers and a unit with hanging space.

Shower Room

With shower cubicle, wash basin, WC, heated towel rail and natural light.

First Floor

Effectively the ground floor from the front where you can cross the bridge from Pier Avenue and enter the hallway. Two bedrooms to your right, bathroom and toilet ahead of you and wide stairs descending to the lower ground floor. Carpet runs through, other than bathroom and toilet with vinyl flooring.

Front Bedroom

Super sunny bedroom with windows, allowing the light to stream in on three sides (with blackout blinds so you can enjoy a good nights sleep!). The zip and link super king size bed allows you to choose a twin on request or double configuration with an additional pull out bed (2’6” x 5’9”) for a child if needed. There’s ample storage in the wardrobe with a chest of drawers there too as well as bedside tables.

Garden Bedroom

Sitting quietly at the back, another bright bedroom with double bed, bedside drawers and wardrobe with both hanging and drawer space.

Bathroom

Light and airy with natural light through the frosted glass window. The bath has a hand shower and there’s a washbasin and towel rail over the radiator.

Outside

This iconic house has an entrance off Marlborough Road at the back with gates opening into the drive and parking for two cars.

The fully enclosed garden wraps around the house with a lawn, trees and flower beds in the back and at the front, under the bridge, a paved area furnished with table for 6/8 with parasol and 12 chairs, with bank rising to Pier Avenue. You’re spoilt for choice at this holiday house, with a bistro table and chairs on the ‘upper deck’ by the bridge where you can catch the morning sun and another table and chairs sitting on the lawn where you can enjoy the evening sun.

Property was very spacious and well equipped. Garden does need some tidying up so users could make more use of it….especially the area around and under the bridge. Overall though a very enjoyable stay and would return.

It's so light, airy and spacious. The lounge furniture is comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. The washing machine and dryer were excellent. We liked the bridge to the upper floor and the garden surrounding the house and we liked the fact that it is so close to the sea. It is maybe the best holiday home that we've ever stayed in.
