We were a little disappointed to he honest.

We found the house quite dirty, not very homely and lacking a nice touch really. There was thick dust all around the edges of the floors, worktop hadn't been cleaned on arrival. Rust on toilet brush/bins, floors were dirty in kitchen. Stool in living room quite stained. Comfort wise it was ok, beds were comfy and nice linen/towels. Very low ceilings in bedrooms and quite squashed in furniture. It was nice to have dishwasher, washing machine etc. Kitchen reasonably well equipped however no space for any food of your own etc all cupboards full of random duplicates of pots/dishes etc. No essentials like oil, salt which is always nice I think. Really cheap soap in handwashes, which is a shame. Few items broken, toilet seat upstairs not the correct fit. Dustpan handle brush broke off in my hand when I picked it up. Planter outside with dead plant in. Which I feel is an easy fix to make it look a little nicer. We have stayed in many holiday lets all over the country and although we appreciate the money spent I feel personally there was little effort into making this a nice place to stay. A bad review is not something I bother doing unless I feel totally necessary to feedback so I hope it is taken on board and used constructively.

I agree with previous reviews that the kitchen is too dark with the existing lighting, regardless of dimmer switches, which were turned up full.

Maybe a battery operated stick on cabinet light would be a good idea by the cooker etc. the microwave is worn and shows sign of damage resulting in condensation forming in the door, the cleaner must be aware of this. The mattress, although comfortable didn’t fit the bed base and the bed base around the bed near the pillows, that you can see was filthy and dusty. The air vent in the bathroom hadn’t been cleaned, I hoovered that myself. The towel rail was dusty, the towels were old and hard, and laid over the dusty rail. The kitchen cupboard door where the bin is has dropped, again obvious to the cleaner so should have been fixed. Lack of glasses - only 2 hi-ball glasses which means if you change your drink you have to keep washing up. No bleach or washing up liquid, old wash cloths and scourer (which I didn’t use) as they didn’t look hygienic, so I brought my own. The front door condenses on the inside resulting in all the coats getting wet that were hanging there. No dog pack left, which the owner apologised for and said that the cleaner had forgotten to leave it, however, I would have expected her to drop one in the next day. All in all, this cottage needs a bit of attention as looking a bit tired.

Our 1st stay in 2013 was in Parten Cottage and later that year we stayed at Seal Cottage and then again in 2014.

Both cottages were more rustic then and the location is simply second to none ! We have wanted to return for a couple of years but obviously Covid and your renovations meant we couldn’t until this year . We could not praise the new look enough . You have made an outstanding job of Seal Cottage and whilst talking to those staying in Parten for the week and their comments it would seem likewise there . The new look with open plan , the AGA cooker , the furnishings, the new staircase ( a great addition from the old style ladder … a lot easier especially for our older family members who joined us who wouldn’t have been able to previously) to the rearranged bedrooms… everything was fantastic. We have had the most amazing stay … weather was fantastic for us … saw many dolphins and plenty of seals at the aptly named Seal Cottage. We would have no hesitation in recommending Seal to family and friends. We look forward to being able to return to Seal Cottage and Lower Burnmouth again …. It is truly our special place ! Thankyou for help making out holiday a lovely experience , you have made a simply beautiful job of renovating.

The cottage was clean and cosy and met with basic requirements The bathroom was small but had plenty of hot water agood shower and a lovely deep bath It was situated within easy access to local places of interest and a pub, chip shop and co-op We did have a bit of problem finding it as was not signed in any way but locals were able to help There is no parking inside grounds of cottage but we always managed to get a space just outside We did not find the cottage dog friendly as dog wasn't allowed up on furniture and there was no outside area for dog to go Local to the cottage there is plenty of places to walk the dog but would have been good just to let dog out first thing in morning and last thing at night It clearly shows in photos and informs you in description of the slanted roof in bedroom This however did not stop us banging our heads After a few bumps you start to pay more attention

We loved our stay at the Coach House.

It was helped by some fantastic weather. It was a great base to explore the top of Northumberland and the Scottish Borders. The village of Churnside is a fabulous location with stunning views. The cottage was perfect for two and the courtyard is bathed in sunshine from early morning until about 4.30pm in the summer, so we had breakfast outside every morning. The cottage had everything we needed, albeit the kitchen was a little dark. As described, the on street parking was absolutely fine and not a problem. The mini co-op was a few doors down, and the village chip shop was no more than 50 yards away. All very convenient. Our hosts were lovely and very welcoming. We would also recommend Berwick Cycles for cycle hire if you are interested! A delightful stay in a delightful cottage.
