Birds Nest is the best cottage that we have ever stayed in.

The owners (Wendy and Willie) are helpful, friendly and there if you need them. The cottage was spotlessly clean (you could smell the cleanliness as soon as you walked through the door). It is comfortable (we slept so well), homely and beautifully furnished. Plenty of towels are provided plus tea towel, hand towel and cloth/sponge/brush for washing up. A tremendous amount of thought has gone into the design with plenty of room for 4 people and many little nooks, crannies, cupboards and wardrobes for storage space. The cottage is fully equipped (with every gadget, pan, dish, piece of crockery and cutlery that you could think of) if you wish to be completely self-catering (there were even bun tins if you wanted to bake)! There’s a very large fridge/freezer, washing machine and dishwasher - all very clean. An iron and board, vacuum cleaner, airer, washing basket and pegs, dustpan and brush are also provided. It really is a “home from home”. There’s an adjoining pretty, private garden (complete with a table, chairs and washing line) with stunning views. We would highly recommend Birds Nest. We have stayed in numerous cottages over the years and this is definitely the best - 11 out of 10!!

We had a truly wonderful week at Bird’s Nest Cottage.

As soon as we arrived, we felt at home. The cottage was beautifully presented, comfortable, cosy and immaculately clean. Wendy, the owner, had thought of everything we could possibly need from a holiday cottage; there was also lots of storage space and parking. We discovered a welcome pack, which was a lovely touch, and even included wine and chocolates! Wendy popped down to check we had everything we needed and made us feel very welcome. The cottage is set on a working farm with stunning views from every window. We were very lucky with the weather and enjoyed a couple of relaxing days in the beautiful, private garden with cows in the field to the left and sheep to the right, which our daughter loved. We also enjoyed days out in nearby Kelso, Melrose, Jedburgh and Berwick. We thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing week in this idyllic cottage and were very sad to be leaving. In fact our daughter wanted to live there! We’ve already started planning our next trip and hope to go when the weather’s a little colder so we can use the log-burner. Thank you Wendy and family for a perfect staycation!

Simply pack your clothes, toiletries, food and maybe a couple of books or deck of cards, you don't need to take anything else - they even have a smart TV and wi-fi.

This little cottage is very well equipped and very comfortable, we settled in immediately and treated it like home. It was immaculate when we arrived and Wendy called by to welcome us personally to check we had all we needed. The welcome gifts were very much appreciated, especially the fresh eggs. We had days out to Jedburgh, Kelso, Galashiels, Melrose and Hawick. But also had a couple of pyjama days, just enjoying the cosy cottage, it's views and a few good books. I can't recommend this cottage enough if you want peace and quiet (it's a working farm, there are animals and quadbikes but they don't intrude), we basically wanted a week with no neighbours - bliss! The batteries are definitely recharged and we would like to go back again, this time take a tour of the farm and more of the immediate surroundings. Thank you so much for a lovely stay!

Just returned from a lovely week spent at 1 Smiths Wind. Perfect home in an ideal location in the middle of Jedburgh, right off the main street but quiet. So many areas to visit in the local and surrounding areas. We took our 8 month old puppy on his first holiday and he was in his element in the house, not to mention a couple of the local pubs! Everything you could ask for on your doorstep, with handy private parking space just round the corner. Mary Queen of Scots house just a few steps away. The house itself had everything we needed (and more) and was well equipped to a high standard, just like being at home. Friendly neighbours and lovely owner who was very helpful and easy to communicate with. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend a stay here and will definitely return.

The Birds Nest was by far the best cottage we have ever stayed at (we've been using cottages for the past 15 years).

The cottage was exceptionally clean and the decor was modern and comfortable. A fire had been laid in the log burner, a welcome pack left for us and the heating was on, it was so welcoming. Wendy popped by within a few hours to say hello and was very friendly and happy to answer any questions we had (even though she was really busy with calving). The views from the cottage were spectacular and it was lovely to be so remote, just what we wanted (and needed). Inside the cottage was immaculate with extremely comfortable beds (quality bedding) and a super shower (quality towels). Wendy & Willie had spared no expense with the facilities & utilities - everything needed was there and more! I would definitely recommend this cottage.
