What our customers say about their holidays

We had a comfortable stay in this cosy little building in a lovely little town in a beautiful area.

.. with free parking. We had a few (hum-drum but potentially frustrating) minor issues within our first couple of hours, but, the owners, once we were able to contact them [our signal was very very poor/patchy in the vicinity! :-( ] were very swift and efficient in sorting them out for us. Some of the previous reviews raise other issues, & the owners are clearly keen to take these comments on board & further improve guests' experience. They are very amenable & friendly. The TV offers Netflix & Amazon Prime as well as iPlayer & many stations...but we are low-tech, so couldn't get the former two to work as they required apps that we didn't have access to...so, advice regarding this for old duffers like us (no smart phones!) would be beneficial. The locality is full of super independent shops, pubs, cafes & restaurants, as well as wonderful walks in spectacular scenery. We had a lovely short break despite the predictable Feb'-like weather... :-/ ... and would recommend Ty Rydd, which is well on the way to being an exceptional little gem. :-)

We arrived on 25/3/23 to be greeted by Anne and David.

David showed us to the accomodation and we found a traditional welsh Barra Brith cake, fresh milk in the fridge and tea & coffee. What a welcome. Well that went down very well indeed. Yummy. The property itself is set in a very quiet cul de sac and it is beautiful. A very comfortable annexe style place. With all the bits n bobs you need for a great holiday. Very comfortable bed. Lovely garden. And a shower room that was just so dam good. The lounge had a lovely feel also. Decorated with Davids amazing photos on the wall. Yes he is a pro. The kitchen was well equipped modern and very clean. The bedroom had wonderfull patio style doors leading on to a patio area and garden. Marvelous in the warmer months. But the weather was not so kind for us. But nonetheless once again very clean and comfortable. The local area is wonderfull to visit with some really nice places and eateries nearby. But for us the star/stars of the show were David and Anne whos hospitality were beyond compare. We will be definately coming back.

The cottage is beautiful, modern farmhouse style.

The rooms are great size and the house was so cozy, especially for visiting in November. The waterbed in the main bedroom was very comfortable and warm with the heated option. My son loved seeing all the animals in the field in front of the property. The views around the house were amazing, looking right down the valley. A couple of tweaks would make this property 5 out of 5; oven gloves and an additional oven shelf as there was only one in the kitchen, basic essentials such as salt, pepper and oil in the kitchen. There was a lot of dust in the house and unfortunately we found dog dirt embedded in the rug in the living room, which had been there for a long time. The shower ran incredibly hot! We notified the owner who looked at it and it cooled it slightly but it was still a lot hotter than is comfortable and had to bathe my toddler in the bath to prevent any potential burns. Please note, there is also no WI-FI at the property even though it was listed in the property details.

The cottage was well located, though, as we expected, extremely small but was fitted out in a quality way.

We did feel that there were a few minor items which could have been improved on, as follows:- 1) There were no instructions, or at least we didn't find any regarding things like the TV and re-cycling (other than an outside box for glass). 2) The toilet seat worked loose during the week and kept slipping. We think this was reported by a previous occupant. 3) The kitchen would have benefited from a few additional utensils, such as kitchen scissors, tongs, a wooden spoon and cheese grater. 4) There was no mention of the regular (apparently every Monday) market nor the excellent butcher/greengrocer, which was a shame. 5) Whilst it didn't affect us (staying at the end of September) we felt that the lack of skylight blinds would be a serious problem in the May-August months so we would not consider staying there in this period. Other reviews have mentioned this. Having said this we would consider staying again (outside the months mentioned above).

An amazing Holiday cottage, situated on a working farm.

Perched on the top of the mountain above Cumfelinfach, with fantastic views over the valley and clear views across the Bristol Channel. Dawn and Martin are amazing host, with nothing too much trouble. The farm has a mix of animals that the children loved. Sheep, lambs, cattle, alpacas, horses and 7 friendly dogs. An absolute must for children. The Barn is comfortable, well furnished and has everything you require to make your holiday a pleasure. A well fitted kitchen, with cooking facilities, fridge/freezer and fantastic views across the valley. Although slightly isolated on top of the mountain, it's only a short drive to the main roads and shopping facilities. The isolated position is a bonus with peace and fresh air. Highly recommended for a peaceful getaway. Dawn is an amazing host and a Saint with the work she does. We will certainly be going back to the barn for our future stays in South Wales.
