The Croft is a well-received cottage in Newport, praised for its comfortable furnishings, well-equipped nature, and excellent location close to amenities and the coastline. Guests appreciate the secure garden and the property's suitability for dogs. While most reviews are positive, some guests have noted issues with cleanliness and maintenance, but these seem to be exceptions rather than the rule.
Cleanliness has received mixed feedback. While many guests have not commented negatively, there are instances of dissatisfaction due to unclean floors, bathroom, and a lack of preparation for new arrivals. However, these seem to be isolated incidents rather than a consistent trend.
The location is highly praised for its proximity to shops, pubs, beaches, and coastal walks, making it an ideal spot for guests looking to explore Newport and its surroundings.
Comfort is generally well-regarded, with guests finding the property comfortable and well-styled. However, some guests have mentioned issues with the firmness of mattresses, pillows, and sofas, which suggests room for improvement.
Facilities are considered to be very good, with the property being well-equipped and maintained. Guests have mentioned a well-equipped kitchen and a secure garden. There are minor concerns about overgrown bushes and a desire for a walk-in shower, but overall, the facilities meet guests' needs.
While guests have mentioned a welcome bottle of wine, there is not enough consistent information about thoughtful touches or gifts to accurately score this category. It should be noted that such gestures, while appreciated, are not guaranteed.

We took extra hand towels and toilet rolls having read previous reviews. If we return to Newport we would definitely book The Croft again, itâs in a perfect position with parking and a very private large garden.

Very conveniently located. We have stayed in Newport many times, this was one of the nicest properties we have stayed in there. Very comfortable, great for dog walks. Garden very secure for most dogs, except ours, but we do have a miniature daschund who is an escape artist!!! The only downside was the weather!

However, it was such a shame that when we arrived the house was unfortunately not cleaned, the bed sheets had not been changed, there were no new towels (the previous occupants towels were still lying around) , there were no bin bags and there was milk left in the fridge that was 3 days passed its use by date and half drunk. My wife had to hoover the property and clean the bathroom; not something youâd expect to do when youâve paid over £500 for your stay! We were so thankful that the family before us had left the property in an acceptable condition but this doesnât make up for the fact the house was not prepared. We only had a 3 night stay so spending the first evening making phone calls and wondering whether we would have clean beds to sleep in was deeply disappointing.
