About this property

Cherry Tree Cottage is a beautiful Grade II listed semi-detached holiday cottage, located in the heart of Woodbridge, just a short walk from the vibrant thoroughfare and River Deben. The property is located next to the well known Cherry Tree pub where you can enjoy summer meals in the garden, or winter evenings by the fire. The property boasts a living/dining room, kitchen and bathroom on the ground floor, with the bedroom located on the first floor. Outside is a small and pretty garden, and off road parking for one car.

Ground Floor

Entering from Cumberland Street, into the living/dining area, with kitchen and bathroom.

Living/Dining Room

A great space with wooden flooring is very much the heart of the cottage. With beautiful original period features, including the beautiful wooden beams. There is a comfortable two seater sofa and two separate chairs for use with the dining table. There are two additional comfortably upholstered chairs for lounging. One of the walls features gorgeous brick work, which houses the 32'' TV and DVD Player and wood-burning stove, perfect for those chilly evenings. There in an antique wooden dining table, which can be pulled out for dining. There is an array of intriguing decorative items filling the room with character and charm. A set of steep winding stairs lead up to the bedroom. There is a thick rope railing on the left of the stairwell. Please note that these stairs are not appropriate for the very mobility-impaired guest.

Kitchen

A newly renovated kitchen with art deco tiles, underfloor heating and stable door leading outside. This well equipped kitchen has everything you need to holiday in style, with an electric oven, with four ring gas hob and extractor fan above, slim-line dishwasher, Samsung washer/dryer, Bosch Tassimo coffee machine, cafetière, kettle, toaster, microwave and fridge with small freezer compartment. There is a variety of unique crockery and glassware, allowing you to dine in style. The owners have supplied a few barbecue items and two picnic baskets for your use in the garden or elsewhere. A disposable barbecue set is available. A selection of bread and butter for toast, eggs and milk are provided for your convenience. The cottage is steps away from a brilliant pub which provides an excellent choice of food and drink. Although food is not served there between 2 o’clock and 5 o’clock, a gorgeous new little café is now located across the street serving all afternoon at the garden centre.

Bathroom

A bathroom of dreams, which has been created following an extensive renovation. With a gorgeous corner clawfoot bath, with over-head shower. The owners have sourced a truly fantastic statement sink with decorative brass tap. There is also a WC and heated towel rail, ensuring toasty towels following your shower as well as quick drying. The bathroom is made additionally comfortable with underfloor heating. The bath is particularly unctuous and deep, and as such it might not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.

First Floor

Traditional cottage stairs which are very steep lead up to the bedroom. There is a thick rope railing on the left of the stairwell. Please note that these stairs are not appropriate for the very mobility-impaired guest.

Bedroom

This bedroom has wooden flooring and a double bed. The window overlooks a vast and lovely garden centre with attractive landscaping across the street and is the perfect space to enjoy a quality night’s sleep after a long day of exploring the area. The decor includes quirky and attractive antiques, books, and ornaments as well as a art nouveau antique feature fireplace

Within the property is a large variety of books available for guests to enjoy during their stay.

Outside

The cottage has a small garden with two sun lounges for guests use. There is also a fire pit for a romantic evening fire and marshmallow roasting! Please note; there is no exit directly into the garden. The cottage is semi detached and very old, and although the garden is attached to the back of the house, it is accessed either through the front driveway or out the back door, through the neighbours’ garden, and around into the Cherry Tree Cottage garden. As a courtesy to our neighbours, we are asking guests to use the driveway entrance into the garden at present. Please note that some dog owners may not find this arrangement convenient.

To the side of Cherry Tree Cottage is a private parking space for guest's exclusive use.

Woodbridge is a historic riverside market town boasting an outstanding selection of independent shops, restaurants and pubs. The town has been famous for boatbuilding, rope and sail making since the Middle Ages. The working tide mill is a major attraction and a must visit for anyone staying in the area. The River Deben runs alongside the town and is popular for boating, walking and wildlife with wonderful views over to the National Trust site of Sutton Hoo. The town hosts a number of events throughout the year and is a wonderful place to visit.

    Having somewhere to park the car was an advantage. The great pub with fantastic food next door was well used. Learnt to look before exiting the front door as nearly took out a few joggers over the week.
