What our customers say about their holidays

    • Gilles - Verified booking

We found the house to be well located and on the surface very clean.

But for a four day holiday rental which quite honestly was not cheap there was much need for improvement. Not one knife was sharp, so difficult and frustrating trying to cut anything. No big deal really but a little annoying. Nowhere to hang your coat. It’s the west of Ireland. It rains A LOT which it did while we were there, so might be a good idea to put some coat hooks inside the door. Also not really a big deal but not great sitting against your wet coat as the only place to put them was on the back of dining chairs. Cheap, nylon duvet covers in two of the bedrooms. It’s really not that difficult or expensive to buy cotton bed clothes making your guest slightly more comfortable. Finally what really compounded all the above points. The cleanliness. Our bedroom sheets were stained as in they were washed but old stains on the sheets and both bathrooms had hairs in the showers + bath. So basically the house was not cleaned well before we got there. We felt having paid quite a bit the standards and the level of care for guests was not very high. I have never complained about accommodation before. I do not want this to be published as I think all of these recommendations can be fixed. I wonder will we hear anything back from anyone or do you just want the guests money and don’t really care about them.

The visiting house is a fabulous retreat away from the every day hustle and bustle of the world.

The hottub, pool, games room and enclosed garden area for the dogs was absolutely brilliant! We brought our 3 dogs with us and I’m not sure who had more fun us or them! The beds are unbelievably comfortable and the house is very cosy. All the small touches including the welcome bottle of Prosecco chilling on the fridge really made the stay. There were loads of lovely walks around the area on quiet country roads and we got to meet a lot of the locals and their dogs out on walks too which was lovely. The house is in the heart of the countryside and given its an old restored cottage with thick walls our phone reception and WiFi was a bit spotty but this just meant we didn’t get distracted on social media and instead whipped out the board games and had some laugh! The house has tons of board games in it so you’ll never have a dull moment! Thanks for creating such a lovely wholesome fun home away from home.

Our stay in the the cottage in Curhoor was outstanding!

The cottage is absolutely stunning, like a show house, exactly like the pictures. Its been completed to an extremely high standard. Had everything we needed for our stay which consisted of 2 adults and 4 kiddies. The house was very comfortable and was imacutately clean. Having Netflix on the tv was a hit in the evenings when everyone was tired. Its a quiet area which was really nice, you do need a car to stay here. Its about a 10 minute drive to Loughrea which has plenty of shops and nice restaurants and roughly 40 minutes spin to Galway city. The basket of goodies was well received by our tired hungry smallies when we arrived and much appreciated Dolores. We couldn't fault anything and will be back again if you'll have us. We still have loads of sight seeing yet to do in Galway. Many thanks for sharing your beautiful cottage with us.

      The house was lovely.

A lot of things were thoughtfully provided and made it a real home from home. Having a dog means the options are reduced so we were delighted to find this house close to Clifden. There was a smell coming from the en suite and Pat had someone out within hours of me informing him which was really good. The one thing I would suggest is that the towels and bed linen are updated. Both are multicoloured and a bit worn. Maybe the sheets could be all white for example. I know someone else has previously made a comment about tidying up the approach. I would tend to agree that if the outside was tidied up, it would maken a fantastic first impression. That being said, I would certainly rebook Rainbows End again in the future.

Roundstone is a friendly harbour village, a 19th century planned town with a gorgeous beach close by.

Sea Watch looks directly out on the sea and the islands in the bay. It is stunning, to see the view from the living room. I liked the comfort and space in the house. My mum is ill and in her 80s, and she was delighted with the house as she had an ensuite shower-room on the ground floor, just off the living room. The beds are good quality and sleep 2 doubles and a single. The kitchen has a full cooker and microwave, fridge-freezer and all the cooking utensils you could ask for. The cupboards are clean, no dry goods provided. The local shop is well stocked with fresh food, but is expensive for stuff that locals don't need. For example you will need salt and pepper - salt and pepper costs €3.49 each.

    Things to do near Galway

    • Landmark Landmark

Oscar Wilde & Eduard Vilde Statue

These bronze sculptures were a gift from Estonia in 2004, and are in memory of the Irish writer, Oscar Wilde and Estonian writer, Eduard Vilde. The figurines are sitting on a bench facing each other. They are located on William Street in the centre of Galway city, and attract both tourists and buskers alike. 43 William St, Galway, H91 K6PN, Ireland.

    Menlo Castle

Menlo Castle is a charming ruin from the sixteenth century. It is situated on the banks of the River Corrib not far from Galway City. From 1600 to 1910, the Blake family called the castle their home. The family added a Jacobean palace to the original tower house in the late 17th century as the castle was extended through time. The castle was gutted by fire in 1910, which also sadly claimed the life of Lord and Lady Blake's daughter. All of the building's belongings were also destroyed. The only remaining structures were the ivy-covered walls, which are still visible today. The outside of the ruins can be viewed by following a nearby track, or by taking a river cruise/experience. Access is not suitable for people with reduced mobility due to the rough track that leads to the castle. Menlo, Co. Galway, Ireland

    The Medieval City Walls

Galway City was once surrounded by a massive stone wall that the Normans had erected to defend its inhabitants from outside invaders. A noteworthy portion of what is left may be seen in the Eyre Square Shopping Center, where two of the original towers, Penrice's Tower and the Shoemaker's Tower, have been maintained along with a 60-metre curtain wall. Informational signs describe the history. Eyre Square Centre,Eyre Square, Galway, Ireland.
