What our customers say about their holidays

    • Mark - Verified booking

I stayed in Oak Barn from the 15th - 29th July due to the sale of my property completing early and needing somewhere to stay for me and my dog.

On arrival I was really impressed with the location and how immaculate the farm is. I was greeted by Elaine at the farm house who then showed me round the barn, which I must was spotless. The welcome pack in the property was very useful to help me find the local pubs/shops and dog walks, however Elaine was kind enough to let me use the fields, as my Beagle loves his walks. The barn is set over-looking the fields and is peaceful in the day, apart from the usual noises you would expect from a working farm, however these were by no means intrusive. Its amazing watching Elaine's husband working the animals and maintaining the properties. At night the lack of light pollution means on a clear night the stars are amazing and great to sit and look at with a cold beer, its such a lovely place to stay. I must add that on the hottest day ever recorded in the UK there was an issue with a burst water main in the village, obviously this was a one off and not Elaine's problem, however within an hour of me noticing the issue Elaine returned with huge 5ltr bottles of water to make sure me and the dog were ok. This I thought was really considerate considering the family had enough issues trying to keep the animals hydrated. I must say Elaine and her family made me feel very welcome during my 2wk stay, always polite, asking how we were, and with smiles on their faces. The farm is great, the room was perfect for my needs and the local pubs and woodland we wonderful places to visit. I would like to thank Elaine, and her family for their hospitality

Lovely house for big family stay.

Well equipped and comfortable. Very spacious and the 'Party barn' was a huge hit. The little kids (7 & 10) were able to stop up in a safe environment , play bar billiards etc. They loved it. Kind of the owners to supply shampoo, conditioner, body wash & washing up liquid - eco friendly. Also biscuits, tea bags, coffee and milk as a starter pack. We ate at The Narrowboat at Weedon and The 'live and let live'. Ordered a takeaway form the Lucky House(?). Fine. Very near the services off the M1 which has a Greggs and a Starbucks. Perfect for the dog walker to fetch us all a coffee! Garden dog and kid friendly. The children were very taken with the study FULL of board games & Jigsaws - this was smashing. Another shower would have been nice, with 9 in the house, but with such an old characterful house this is tricky. Need to master the Aga better. Trying to cook for 9 was a challenge. Bedding and towels all great quality. All in all a fantastic stay and the owners are to be congratulated on such a great quality place. Thanks - we may be back!

We absolutely loved staying at Hill House Farm.

It was so spacious and well stocked with everything and more that we needed for our family of 9 people. The furniture was just lovely, high quality, and the beds were the most comfortable we have ever slept in. It is a really beautiful house and we all felt completely at home. As it was December, the house had been beautifully decorated with a Christmas tree and lots of festive ornaments. Such a nice and thoughtful touch by the owners. The party barn was just fabulous and a hit with everyone. We didn’t get to enjoy the garden as it was cold and very wet during our stay, but it looked lovely and would be great for barbecues etc in the better weather. We loved the farmhouse so much and were sad to leave, so as soon as we arrived back home, we booked it again for the following year. Cannot wait to go back. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in this wonderful house.

Such a beautiful place and a great find.

Self contained with everything you need for a relaxing stay. Lovely setting away from the hustle and bustle but only 10 minutes drive to local towns. Elaine and her husband were amazing and very welcoming of us and our 2 beagles. Plenty of great walks on the door step or short drives away including; Badby woods and Daventry country park to name a couple. Beautiful view to wake up to each day and local pub Red Lion do such tasty food with local produce and the countryman lovely quaint pub for a couple of beers. Marley farm is nearby and make the best homemade pies and sausages, lovely lady that owns it. You won’t be disappointed staying here with tea and cake as a lovely welcome gift, nice touch.

Very quiet and restful in the daytime and evening, which is what we needed.

Our visit coincided with very hot weather and all windows needed to be open at night (as well as daytime). Unfortunately every night we were disturbed THROUGHOUT the night by dogs barking loudly - they sounded much larger and fiercer than the sheepdogs we saw working on the farm. On two nights the barking was so frequent that sleep was virtually impossible, including the night before departure, very disappointing as we could not wait to get away and left before 8 a.m. facing a 200 mile journey. The owner offered profuse apologies, but without reassurance the problem would not recur, WE SHALL NOT RETURN, even though we would very much like to.
