This cottage has so much to offer but we left feeling disappointed and having spent up to a day of our holiday dealing with unnecessary problems.
There are two key errors in the listing. Firstly, the checkout time is advertised as being 10am when it is actually a rigid 9am. This would not be a problem for most but we have a disabled son who struggles in the morning so we had to leave the night before. We had this issue hanging over us for most of the week - we raised the issue on the Monday but didn't get a definitive response until the Thursday (and then had to start packing to leave that night). Secondly, there is no washer-dryer (not a problem for us but would be for others). We had to wait in twice for the lovely maintenance man. There were no instructions for the heating and despite our best efforts with Google, we could not get it working on a cold October day. This was easily avoidable. We then had problems with the bathroom door sticking and nearly got locked in so had to call for help again. The toilet roll holder was also falling off and clattering in the night so that required fixing. There was a lack of instructions in the property so we spent quite a while trying to figure out the TV and took a while to master the hob. The instructions for putting the bin out were incorrect so we moved it from the back of the house to the front when it wasn't needed - not a problem for us but might have been for more elderly guests. Again all avoidable things. Much of the cottage is so beautifully furnished and designed but why have a broken clock in the kitchen (we tried changing the batteries), a missing lamp in one of the bedrooms, a door on the bathroom cabinet that needed tightening up as it was starting to drop and mould on a corner of the bath? As stated above, we spent a lot of time trying to resolve problems. It isn't the way you want to spend your holiday. We have never left a negative review before. There is so much about this cottage that is great -and had circumstances been different, we would have been looking to rebook - but we left feeling let down by a plethora of completely unnecessary issues which detracted from our holiday. (PS - and not part of the review - we did not know how to rate our Sykes experience as we dealt with Manor Cottages)

The cottage was beautiful, clean, warm etc.
it needs some more kitchen equipment if you plan to âcookâ like Tupperware, better sharp knives etc. Beds were AMAZING! Lovely bed linen etc. the TV wasnât great BUT the owners went out and got us a new one so I can now confirm it has Netflix for those who have an acc to log in to, very kind people. The pub down the road is essentially closed. Itâs for sale and the locals are trying to buy it so it was open for a few hours on the Friday and Saturday night. Sadly no food but understandable. Log burner amazing and a supply of wood for 2 fires. We had a lovely time and would love to return. Be aware though that Sykes Cottages donât let you in until 4pm and you have to be out by 10am but you are expected to âcleanâ it and strip beds before departure. We had to leave early due to my friends mother suddenly passing away and although we were told it âshouldâ be ok to leave it the worry of taking £100 off my card was something we didnât want to risk so made sure it was all perfect which we could of done without to be honest. Iâve never stayed in cottages where you are expected to clean to the standard it is when you arrive and strip beds. Not sure exactly what the housekeepers role is. The cottage wasnât cheap but as itâs been completely refurbished so thatâs understandable itâs just shame we had the to do so much before we could leave. No issues with the cottage, highly recommend it and the lovely owners.

We found the property as advertised.
The kitchen is well equipped, the master bedroom is rather spacious and the bathroom is nice. We liked the location: Itâs a bit outside the village and we could do lots of things in the area, especially the Cotswolds. But there were also three negative things: First of all, the lodge can also be rented by pet owners, which is something that you could smell. There were scent diffusers in almost every room, but it didnât help. Also there were smears on the two glass tables and all mirrors where you could see that somebody had cleaned them but hadnât gone to the trouble of cleaning them in a way that they were _really_ clean. There was also quite a bit of dust and crumbs under the couch (I didnât lie down to have a look, but you could see it when you sat on the couch) - all in all nothing too bad, but also not âspotlessly cleanâ. Moreover, there was some kind of construction work going on in the room that wasnât part of our lodge but that was adjacent to the bedroom which meant that every morning during the week there were loud voices, drilling and hammering from 8 oâclock which is quite a bit earlier than Iâd like to be woken up during my holidays and which is something that I would have been happy to know about before my booking.

We had a fantastic 4 nights at Willow Lodge and would definitely return.
This is a quiet location and a perfect place to visit surrounding areas like Evesham and Stratford-upon-Avon that were no more than 15-20 minutes drive. The accommodation was extremely clean, tastefully done & had all the amenities we needed for our stay. The owners leave you to your own devices but are on hand for any questions or help you need which was ideal. A lovely place to unwind. This was booked very last minute ( car packed and nowhere to go ) but the owners went out there way to clean and prepare the lodge while we were travelling which was very much appreciated. Just one tip, we found Google Maps better than the SatNav for finding Hoden Lane as it was dark and the SatNav tried to send us past the turning. When you do turn into Hoden Lane, keep driving as you may feel you have missed it as it is a long narrow lane to a dead end. Accommodation perfect for our CockerPoo too as she was able to explore the enclosed vast garden area safely. Willow Lodge highly recommended.

When we arrived at Willow Lodge with our two children, we were absolutely delighted to find exactly what was shown on the website.
The photos and description are very accurate. The finish of this property is of a very high standard and was so clean and fresh. The owners left us provisions above and beyond, the essentials and also wine/homemade biscuits, washing up liquid, hand soap, dishwasher tablets, tea/coffee/sugar etc. All the things you have to usually buy and take half packets home. The location is beautiful, and grounds are pristine. The photos in this advert actually show the garden for the other property which is attached, but they are almost identical. Perfect central location to visit all the pretty villages, and surrounding areas. We were delighted and will definitely be re-booking in the future. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Our neighbours were lovely too and even though they had a dog, we rarely heard any noise, which I was initially concerned about. I would highly recommend this property for anyone visiting the Cotswolds.
