This review is a month late.
Many apologies. Not intentional! Cream Door Cottage can be thoroughly recommended. A warm welcome on arrival followed by a cup of tea and a slice of cake from the welcome pack marked the start of what was to be an excellent week. The cottage was very comfortable with plenty of space for the two of us. Indeed there would have been plenty of space for four, be it two couples or a family of four. The second twin bedroom had an en-suite just as well equipped as the double, so there should be no disappointment from the children or a second couple. There was plenty of space to spread, with a conservatory leading off from the comfortable and spacious living room. The two bedrooms were not lacking in space either, and with a TV in each and a third in the living room, three differing tastes in TV entertainment could be accommodated simultaneously. It does say somewhere in the blurb that the floors are rather uneven. I wouldnât argue with that, but after about two days Iâd finally got my sea legs and I was fine after that. (Of course, thatâs an exaggeration somewhat...) The unevenness adds to the charm! The cottage was very warm, when we needed it to be, with an easily operated boiler control. The timer was set to reasonable on/off times and we were able to use the one hour over-ride button when we stayed up late. Heating was extended to the conservatory, though we turned that right down as we didnât need it in the evening. There was an electric oil radiator in there too, so I would think in winter time that room would be as cosy as the rest of the cottage. There is a very attractive cottage garden to the rear with table and chairs for al fresco dining. We didnât take advantage but looked a very pleasant and secluded place to eat. Thereâs plenty of space at the front for two cars to park. The main reason for booking Cream Door Cottage was so we could visit a relative who is confined to wheelchair and have days out with her and her husband. Of course the cottage is totally unsuitable for a wheelchair user as a holiday base, but she did visit us one day and we found it just possible to get her in her wheelchair through the front door (with the aid of a ramp) and into the living room. Of course anyone else booking the cottage is unlikely to need that âfeatureâ, but I mention it, just in case. All in all, Cream Door Cottage makes an excellent base for a couple, family of three or four, or family of three or four. We never did find the cream door though...

We arrived earlier at the property and knocked at the door.
As there was no answer we thought the property had been cleaned. We were going to ring the owner immediately and ask as a gesture of goodwill could we put some frozen food in the small icebox as we had been in Ludlow the previous week. We would have left then and returned after the cleaning. The cleaners turned up quite later. We did call the owner on arrival !!! As he wasn't there to see why we had complained, we got the impression he thought we were exaggerating. I did take a photograph. This is the first time we have come across this in all our years of using Sykes Holiday Cottages. The icebox had obviously been left for a couple of weeks and not been defrosted, the door would barely close. it was packed full of ice and blackcurrant spilled in it. The cleaners sorted the icebox and when we got back the fridge was turned off! I'm wondering if it hadn't been brought to the owner's notice, would this had been left again. We then found the kitchen cutlery drawers weren't very clean, the cupboard doors grubby, there was some dirty cutlery. We cleaned them ourselves and cleaned all the cutlery and the dishes. We also wiped the inside of the cupboards. Attention to detail with these cleanliness issues are important. As the owners didn't live nearby it might help if they occasionally came and checked for themselves avoiding negative feedback on important cleanliness issues. The bathroom was cold with one small towel rail. It needs extra heating, particularly in winter. The television kept freezing with a faulty signal. If these issues were addressed then the property would be given more stars. The property was on a very noisy main through road in and out of the town but did not affect our sleep. It eased off in the late evening. There was also a large building site over the road. On the positive side the beds were comfortable and the property was warm. It had a large garden at the back of the property. It was also convenient for a walk into the town. There was a good chip shop a few minutes walk from the property and a nice quiet local pub. If all of these issues were addressed at the property we would return if we were to revisit Bewdley.

The directions were good and provided we followed the signs for the cattery we arrived at the front door of Cream Door without any problems.
Access to the property was very easy without any problems as was unloading since the drive and the front door were very close. The photographs and description were accurate and it was exceptionally clean and tidy. The owners live next door and were very helpful whenever we needed any help which was only on one occasion. There is plenty of information about the house and the local area including OS maps. We found the kitchen was well equipped for our needs. The beds were comfortable and the showers worked well with plenty of hot water whenever we needed it. The heating worked well for the two evenings when it was colder than expected for the time of year. TV reception was good for terrestrial television but because of its rural location the wifi is slow but it did work for browsing and email in all areas of the house. Cream Door is close by car to the centre of Kidderminster for shopping such as a large Tesco, M&S etc and the nearest public house (Mare & Colt, 5 minutes walk or 0.3 miles in footpaths) serves good local beer and pub food. It is also a good location for visiting Worcester, the Black Country and Birmingham. All in all a great let and since we have family nearby we hope to be returning at some stage.

We loved our week at this cosy little cottage with our two children and two dogs.
Itâs been beautifully decorated, was very comfortable and clean and has everything we needed (we did miss our dishwasher and washing machine but we coped and it was fine!). The welcome pack was really thoughtful including bread, butter and dog treats. It was also really nice to have hair products and lots of soap and cleaning products. Itâs an easy walk into Bewdley and a very easy drive to so many lovely walks. We absolutely loved the Habberley Valley circular walk and the Wyre Forest. The fish and chips from over the road were delicious. The cottage is on a very busy road so if your dogs are prone to rushing out the door you would need to take care. Our dogs loved the big enclosed garden.

Cream Door Cottage is immaculately clean.
The standard of the accommodation is exceptional. There is plenty of everything you need and more and everything is to an excellent standard, including the fact that the knives for preparing food are actually sharp and fit for purpose. There were also nice little touches such as usb sockets on some of the electrical sockets. A welcome pack of coffee and walnut cake, a bottle of water and some fruit was lovely. There were also tea bags and sugar in containers. The outside space is the best we have seen in our many cottage rentals with a beautifully planted border and a table and chairs for eating al fresco if desired. Ian and Lorraine were very friendly and welcoming.
