What our customers say about their holidays

    • Louise - Verified booking

Very secluded and peaceful for a relaxing break.

Within easy driving distance of many places to see and visit and only 1 mile from the centre of Narberth where ameneties are available. The only thing to be aware of is the lack of cash machines in the town. A friendly shop owner suggested queuing up in the post office best / safe option to withdraw cash. There is a machine at the Nisa Extra supermarket but it proved unreliable .Unfortunately one high street bank has closed and the other is open normal banking hours with no outside machine so just need to think about what cash you may need in advance. Narberth is a colourful busy little place with many quirky gift and antique shops, galleries and cafes. Plenty of places to eat well or buy whatever you need for self catering , Great butchers / fish monger open on Sundays too. Grounds at Herons Brook Retreat well maintained , lots of local wildlife to watch and some very friendly domestic ducks who live on and around the lake. Very enjoyable , quiet and relaxing break - The Beeches is well positioned on a slope so that there is a great feeling of space - closest lodge far enough away to not feel overlooked or overheard by any other guests on the site. Jacuzzi privately positioned away from any general view and very easy to fill , empty and then refill with no chemicals - just fresh water each time you wish to use. Would recommend for a a relaxing quiet break with everything you might need and some extras on top . Thankyou.

      # Praise praise praise.

Now I've sung them I will extend our gratitude for your choices. Location is excellent, quiet, pretty and accessible. Property is spacious (we are only a couple but 4 would have been easily managed), well equipped and comfortable. Communication rather extensive, well detailed and useful. Welcome pack was a very nice touch, I am looking for the wine locally. All in all probably the best holiday home we have stayed in over the few years we have been using Sykes. I say probably but I really mean definitely. We look for two types of holiday let, rustic and modern. This fitted the modern very well. OK so for me the only small details I would improve on: - Bigger fridge freezer, not a lot, but we were running out of room in the fridge with fresh produce (I cook as a hobby), and a coffee press (good job I brought my own lol). Otherwise fab, sharp knives and well kitted kitchen. I only discovered the board games on the last day. Not needed but nice they were there. All in all I would like to extend gratitude for making our first visit to Wales an excellent one despite the changeable weather. A warm bubbly jacuzzi after a busy day is an excellent touch (except getting out when it's breezy brrrrrrr lol). If we are this way again The Beaches will be a hard place to beat. My thanks, Bear.

The jacuzzi was fantastic and was used several times during our week there - lovely and warm and not overlooked at all so felt very private.

Another review mentioned that the cover was held down by two pieces of wood which is true but my 10 year old son had no trouble in removing them and placing them neatly at the side so they are not heavy or unwieldy. There are trees nearby so if not covered it will get a few leaves blowing in but it is not difficult to remove them before filling the tub. The DVD player did not play BlueRay discs which was disappointing as we had taken some films to watch in the evenings/rainy days; most DVD players will play both types of disc these days so it might be worth mentioning that in the listing. WiFi was great with decent speed. Bath and shower both very good with plenty of hot water. Some fixtures and fittings need a bit of repair and we noticed a couple of the glasses in the cupboards were chipped or cracked and should be replaced. That said, all in all it was a very comfortable lodge in a fabulous location for visiting lots of places and very peaceful. I would definitely recommend this place to others.

We had a lovely stay at the Tin Shed with our two dogs.

Very cozy, loved the hot tub! Great location for walking, we went to the Elan Valley on one day (about 15 minutes drive), and Pen Y Fan (about 50 minutes). The Tin Shed is set on a farm, it’s nice and quiet, private. The interior is very nicely decorated, the underfloor heating is lovely, everything you need for a kitchen, a cozy bed, sofa, and a smart tv! The outdoor is fully enclosed for the dogs, it’s not visible in the photos, but the fence does have wire mesh also, so they cannot get in between the slats. Took us a little while to find it as the map location on Sykes cottages website was wrong. Would definitely recommend, and would definitely stay here again. The only minor inconvenience was the WiFi wasn’t working when we visited, but luckily there was phone signal so we were able to hotspot the tv from our phones. The outdoor bath tap has also burst (presumably from freezing), however we just used the hot tub which was great

A beautiful secluded holiday home with everything you need for a comfortable stay.

The scenery through the beacons is breath taking, and the same goes for the working farm you arrive at. The owners met us on arrival with some extra towels and bits then left us too our own devices. They offered us the opportunity to go and feed the lambs which I thought was lovely as you can see they are always so busy but we didn't want to intrude on this stay. Maybe next time, as we will book this place again! The holiday home is perfectly sized for a few days/ weeks stay but I will state to make sure that you take everything you'll think you'll need as the shop is not just round the corner- to us this was part the fun... though forgetting the milk didn't go down well! If you want romance, peace and beautiful scenery then this place is a must.
