Located right next to sweeping sand dunes and stretches of pristine golden sand beach, Crimdon Dene Holiday Park is a great spot for families who do like to be beside the seaside. Watch the kids play amongst the sand dunes, take a family stroll along the beach and work up the courage to dip your feet into the North Sea. Back at the park, you’ll find an indoor pool for splashing around in, as well as a spa pool for parents to sit back and relax in. Outside there’s an extensive play park and an all-weather multi-sports court, which is great if you’ve got any netball or basketball lovers in the group. Come evening, it’s time to tuck into a tasty dinner at the Boathouse Bar & Restaurant, before heading off to enjoy an exciting night of live entertainment at the Ocean Edge Entertainment Centre. Located in the northeast of England, Crimdon Dene is an accessible holiday spot for both English and Scottish holidaymakers. Those travelling southbound on the A1 should take the exit at Junction 61, following signs for Spennymoor/Bishop Auckland (A177). When you reach the roundabout, take the first exit for Peterlee (A688). Keep in the left lane from here and continue to follow the signs for Peterlee/Sherburn (A688), taking the first exit at the first roundabout and continuing straight at the second. When you arrive at the next roundabout, take the third exit towards Peterlee (A19) and then Wheatley Hill (A181) at the second roundabout, following the road through Castle Eden and onto the B1281. Take the right at the T-junction towards Hartlepool (A1086) and carry on along this road, passing Lido Garage on your right. From here, you’ll go through a small tunnel and find Crimdon Dene Holiday Park on your left-hand side. If you’re trying to protect the environment, then opting to travel by public transport will lower your carbon emissions and reduce the air pollution caused by your trip. The closest train station to the park can be found in the town of Hartlepool, which is just 4.6 miles from the park. This station is served by a variety of lines, with a direct daily service from London Kings Cross, as well as services running to and from Middlesbrough, Sunderland, Carlisle and Whitby. The train journey to Hartlepool takes about four hours, compared to four and a half if you’re driving. Once you reach Hartlepool, you can catch the bus directly to the holiday park. The nearest bus stop is just outside the park and is served by a variety of bus routes. You can also get buses straight to the park from the cities of Durham and Sunderland.
