With a beautiful golden sand beach on your very doorstep, you’ll be able to spend the mornings strolling along the sand and the afternoons splashing around in the water. If you want to get out hiking, then the stunning expanse of Snowdonia is just around the corner, with plenty of walking routes for hikers of all ages and abilities. There’s lots to do on the park itself too, with an adventure golf course, sporting facilities and extensive play areas. If the weather’s looking a bit iffy, then you’ll find plenty of indoor activities at the park. Spend the afternoon chilling out in the indoor swimming pool, or challenge the family to a game in the bowling alley. However you choose to spend your time at Greenacres Holiday Park, there’s one thing for certain: the whole family will be having the time of their lives and no one will want to leave.
Set on the coast of North Wales, Greenacres Holiday Park is accessible from all across the UK. If you’re travelling by car, then head for the town of Porthmadog. Once you reach Porthmadog High Street, turn towards Black Rock Sands (look out for The Factory Shop and the Post Office as the turning is in between them). The park is just two miles away from Porthmadog, located at the end of the sleepy little village of Morfa Bychan. If you’re doing your bit for the environment and travelling by public transport, then you’ll find the nearest train station to the park located in the town of Porthmadog, just two and a half miles away. From the town, you can catch the number 99 bus towards Morfa Bychan, which stops right outside the park itself. Those who would rather travel by coach or bus will also find the nearest bus station in Porthmadog. Once you arrive in the town, you can connect to local services straight to the park.
With an ideal location right next to a Blue Flag beach and close by Snowdonia National Park, there’s so much to see and do in the surrounding area of Greenacres Holiday Park. Nature lovers will relish the opportunity to get out in the great outdoors, while beach bums will be enchanted by the golden sand, tumbling dunes and stunning ocean views of Black Rock Sands beach. Despite the name, Black Rocks Sands beach is not black at all, or even remotely dark. This lovely beach is instead made up of stretches of soft golden sand, secret caves and little rock pools. What’s more, the beach is surrounded by a nature reserve full of stretching sand dunes and flora and fauna, giving you even more to explore. Unusually for a beach, you’re able to drive straight onto the sands here. Making it the ideal spot if you have someone with accessibility issues in the group. Covering over 823 square miles of rich and diverse landscapes, Snowdonia National Park is one of the loveliest places in the whole of the UK. Whether you’re a keen hiker, love to cycle or just want to get out for a drive and see some stunning natural views, Snowdonia is the perfect day out for you. What’s more, Snowdonia National Park is home to Mount Snowdon, the highest mountain in both Wales and England, you have the option of climbing up under your own steam or taking the Snowdon Mountain Railway to the summit. You can find this beautifully-reconstructed railway in the town of Porthmadog, which is just down the road from the holiday park. Hop aboard for a short ride through the local area, before stopping off at the Engine Sheds to see how things work behind the scenes and explore the cabs of the locomotives One for the history buffs, this spectacular coastal castle was an important player in Welsh history. Located on a dramatic rocky headland and sandwiched between two beaches, Criccieth Castle is a stunning sight for miles around. This castle has been capturing the imagination of visitors since Medieval times. So much so that the legendary landscape painter Turner made a watercolour of it in 1836. Once you get up to the ruins of the castle, you’ll be rewarded by incredible views over the local town and bay.
