An ideal destination for last-minute getaways and early bookings alike, Hafan y Mor Haven is home to an exceptional range of activities, facilities and entertainment. This luxury holiday getaway recently underwent a huge refurbishment, having two Olympic medallists officially open the new haven waterpark. If you’ve got a thirst for adventure, the brand new Dragon Lakes Adventure Village is for you. Offering something for every member of the family, it boasts everything from mini 4x4 off-road driving to dragon boat hire. Another of the park’s star attractions is its tranquil boating lake. Just picture it, gliding across the crystal surface, nothing but birdsong in the air and thick, gorgeous greenery, towering on either side - it doesn’t get more peaceful than this. Best of all, once you’ve worked up an appetite exploring the park’s fantastic features, there’s a vast range of on-site eateries to choose from, catering to even the fussiest eaters.
If you’re driving from the North or North West, at Chester, take the A55 and A5. Join the A487 to Caernarfon, then A499 to Pwllheli and eventually, the A497 to Porthmadog. After driving through Pwllheli, around three miles from the town’s centre, you’ll see Hafan y Mor Haven on your right. If you’re driving from the South or the Midlands, take the M54 to Telford. From there, take the A5 past Oswestry and Llangollen, and then the A494 to Bala. In Bala turn right for Porthmadog. Turn left at the roundabout in Porthmadog, signposted Criccieth and Pwllheli. You’ll find the site of the holiday park around three miles out of Criccieth.
As you’d expect from an award-winning holiday park, Hafan y Mor is home to an exceptional range of fantastic facilities. Dragon Lakes Adventure Village offers activities for all ages, from toddlers to pensioners. Facilities include mini 4x4 off-roaders, outdoor play area, dragon boat hire, multi-sports court area, sand play, aerial adventure high and low ropes courts. There’s a boating lake, bungee trampolines, an all-weather multi-sports court and of course, direct access to the stunning Pwllheli beach. For indoor fun, there’s FunWorks amusements arcade and Oodles family amusement centre, as well as a heated indoor pool. If you fancy a break from cooking, there are nine food and drink venues on-site, including Coast House bar and grill, HMS Glendower Pub, a Cakery and The Pizza Deck. There’s a mini-market selling all holiday essentials, a Swim Shop and Funshop, to add a little pizazz to your holiday getup.
Nestled in an area of officially recognised Outstanding Natural Beauty, Pwllheli is one of the most vibrant market towns in North Wales and the unofficial capital of the Llyn Peninsula. Meaning ‘salt-water pool’ in English, the quintessentially seaside town is crammed with independent shops, boutiques, traditional Welsh country pubs, award-winning fish and chips, and Welsh ice-cream. Its narrow streets are also steeped in history. For decades, the Pwllheli port was used to import fine wines from the continent, making it a haven for smugglers and pirates. Pwllheli’s coast mainly faces south, meaning it spends more of the day bathed in sunlight. What’s more, almost every Pwlheli beach has achieved Blue Flag status - a European award is given to sandy spots of the impeccable cleanliness and all-round excellence.
