Nestled in the picturesque Croyde village, with a beach as its doorstop, this award-winning vacation spot is one of the most popular family getaways in England. Home to an on-park nature trail, tranquil fishing lake and an incredible Tropical Adventure Pool, there’s something for absolutely everyone. What’s more, the nearby village of Croyde offers no shortage of family seaside fun. Sat on a stunning stretch of Blue Flag sand, Croyde is the surfing capital of North Devon. Ruda Holiday Park’s premier attraction, however, is undoubtedly its on-park Surf School. Catering to everyone from complete beginners to experienced show-offs, there’s no better way to make the most of your stunning seaside setting.
Set right by Croyde village centre, getting to Ruda Holiday Park is easy. If travelling from the East, follow the M5 to Exeter, before taking the slip road toward Tiverton and Barnstaple (A361). At the roundabout, take the third exit. Once you reach Barnstaple, continue along the A361 towards Braunton and Ilfracombe. Once you reach the centre of Braunton, and Barnstaple is 5 miles away, take the left-hand turn after the second set of traffic lights onto the B3231, signposted Saunton and Croyde. Follow the B3231 coastal road to Croyde. Once you reach the centre of the Croyde village, turn left onto Jones’s Hill and follow signs towards Baggy Point and Cascades Fun Pool at Ruda. Once you reach Moor Lane, Ruda Holiday Park will lie right ahead.
The on-park surf school makes the most of Croyde Bay Beach and the Off-Shore Hire Shop makes sure you’re kitted out and ready for action. There are multi-sports courts and fields, a nature trail, horse riding and a wonderful Tricks, Treats and Sweets shop to keep the kids smiling. Evenings are taken care of at the Atlantic Blue Entertainment Lounge, while a tranquil fishing pond provides the perfect place to kick back during the day. The Cascades Tropical Adventure Pool is the prime attraction. Home to rapids, flumes and a heart-racing 230-foot waterslide, it doesn’t get much more exciting than this. When you’re ready to head back onto dry land, the little ones can check out the adventure playground, amusement arcade and soft-play area. Of course, all these activities are hungry work. Luckily, Ruda Holiday Park also hosts a variety of exquisite eateries, including Fish and Chips, takeaways, a cosy Bar and Kitchen and an Italian restaurant. A convenience store caters to all your holiday essentials and you’ll also have access to a laundrette and high-speed WiFi throughout the complex.
A tropical paradise nestled in North Devon, Croyde is home to some of the best seaside staycations this country has to offer. It’s a place where rich and foamy waters lap against gold and silken sands and a world of surfing and watersports thrives. Inland, Croyde is the definition of an English seaside village. Its narrow streets are crammed with stunning scenery, beautiful boutiques and great deals on the best fish and chips you’ll ever sample. Come during the summertime and you’ll see Croyde host the ever-popular Goldcoast Oceanfest, offering a weekend of watersports, live music and outdoor adrenaline-fuelled adventure.
