Surrounded by stunning countryside, pretty towns and miles upon miles of spectacular coastline, Sandford Holiday Park is the ideal location if youâre wanting to get out and explore the county of Dorset. With Durdle Door right on your doorstep (pardon the pun) you really have to get out and see this stunning natural wonder during your stay. One of the most photographed and iconic spots in the whole of the UK, this incredible natural wonder was designated as Englandâs first natural UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2001. If the weatherâs looking good, head out to the lovely Poole Harbour, just 20-minutes down the road. This gorgeous spot is actually Europeâs largest natural harbour and is the ideal spot for relaxing walks through the unspoilt woodland and coast. If you like your watersports then this is also a great spot for it. The kids will go bananas for Monkey World - a primate rescue centre just 15-minutes away from the park. Home to the biggest group of chimpanzees outside of Africa, this is also Europeâs only Orang-utan Creche, looking after all the orphaned and abandoned orang-utans in the continent. If you fancy getting out and stretching your legs then set off on a day trip to Brownsea Island. The largest island in Poole Harbour, this special spot is steeped in history and is home to a wide variety of wildlife. Wandering around the island, youâll stumble across dramatic views of the Purbeck Hills, enchanting woodland, a tranquil lagoon and plenty of local wildlife. Whatâs more, thereâs an array of activities to do on the island, including tree-climbing trails and a natural play area. If youâve got any history buffs in the group, then you should definitely pay a visit to Corfe Castle. Only a 15-minute drive from the holiday park, this thousand-year-old fortress is one of Britainâs most iconic castles. A survivor of the bloody English Civil War, the thick stone walls, secret corridors and towering turrets of this battle-scarred survivor tell a tale of bygone battles, ancient grudges and bitter conflict.
