The Bay Filey enjoys a superb location. Situated right next to Filey Beach, which was awarded British Beach of the Year in 2018, this is the perfect spot for beach lovers and water babies. The pretty seaside town of Filey is just down the road from the park. Here you’ll find streets lined with elegant Edwardian architecture, boutique shops and a small but quirky museum. For those willing to venture further afield, the town of Scarborough is only a 20-minute drive away, while Whitby is about an hour. With plenty to do and see, both towns make for great day trips from the park. If you’re heading to Scarborough, then don’t miss a visit to Scarborough Castle and a ride on the town’s old Victorian funicular. Visitors to Whitby should follow in Dracula’s footsteps on The Dracula Experience, before visiting the famous Whitby Abbey and afterwards tucking into a hearty plate of fish and chips at The Magpie Cafe. If you want to get out and explore the great outdoors, then head off for a hike, run or bike ride in the North York Moors. This sweeping national park is home to wide expanses of heather-filled moorland, rolling hills, ancient woods and diverse wildlife. Keep an eye out for Iron Age Hill Forts, Roman Ruins and ancient abbeys as you pass through the different landscapes and areas of the national park.
