Newquay is best known for one wonderful thing - its beaches. Home to opal blue waters lapping against golden sands, one of Newquay’s most popular spots, Fistral Beach, was recently crowned the best beach in the UK. Combine that with its above-average temperatures and below-average rainfall and it becomes Britain’s own tropical destination. If you’re a fan of surfing, there’s no better place to be. Newquay is the undisputed UK capital of watersports, with many going so far as to call it the best place to surf in Europe. Lapping against its miles of sandy beaches are some of Britain’s best waves and warmest waters, meaning you not only get an exciting surfing experience but a comfortable one too. There’s also nothing quite like a romantic stroll by one Newquay’s iconic harbours and, for the little ones, Newquay Zoo and aquarium refuses to disappoint. Best of all, as a fishing town, Newquay is home to maybe the freshest fish and chips in the country here. Plus, you can finish the day off with freshly-made ice cream on the epic Fistral beach.
