Brockenhurst

Lyndhurst
In the heart of the New Forest, Lyndhurst is often considered the “capital” of the region. It’s home to the Forest Centre Museum, where you can learn more about the area’s rich and fascinating history.
Lymington
Sat slightly further out, but still within easy driving distance of Peppa Pig World, Lymington is the place for family-friendly cottages with a sea view. This bustling market town is home to Lymington River, quaint cobbled streets and gorgeous Georgian architecture.

Exbury Gardens
Exbury Gardens are home to stunning natural grounds, tea room and play area and, of course, that all important steam railway. This awesome 200 acre site is famous for its collection of rhododendrons, azaleas, camellias, rare trees, and the superb steam-train and railway that runs along a 1¼ mile track through the gorgeous gardens! You can get combined tickets for garden admission and steam-train use, making it the perfect fun-packed family day out.
Buckler’s Hard Museum
There’s no place better place to learn something new in the New Forest than at the Buckler’s Hard Museum. Right on the banks of the Beaulieu River, it will give you a peek at the history of this 18th century ship-building village and the vessels it created! Head to the museum for a look at the way naval life inspired art, literature and engineering. Then head to the top-to-toe decorated shipwright’s cottage for a taste of life in the village during its heyday.
The North Solent National Nature Reserve
This Nature Reserve is one of the largest nature reserves in Hampshire. If you’re looking for rare birds and a spot where ancient woodlands meet stunning coast; this is the place for you.
Covering over 800 hectares, there is plenty of space to roam, but don’t forget your binoculars. There are numerous species of birds to be spotted here; rare and more well-known alike. The wildlife changes with the seasons, and it’s a lovely place to visit all year round.
Visit the New Forest Ponies
With around 3,000 ponies wandering the New Forest at any one time, you’re almost guaranteed to see one. Plus they’ve been here for roughly 2,000 years and don’t plan to leave anytime soon.
Did you know, the belief that these New Forest ponies are wild is actually a myth? In fact, they’re all privately owned, which tells you a little something about the spirit of the area. These ponies wander where they like and aren’t afraid to make your acquaintance. As long as you remember the rules (no feeding!) then these ponies are yours to enjoy.
The Lepe Country Park
Although not many people think of the New Forest as coastal, it does in fact have its own beach. The Lepe Country Park is a beautiful stretch of beach with amazing views across the Solent. You can check out historic D-Day remains, explore the wildflower meadows and let the children run wild in the many play areas. It’s pet-friendly and they even allow BBQ’s in certain areas of the beach; so it’s perfect for a family trip out.
