Guests say

Isabella Cottage is praised for its peaceful setting, excellent dog walking opportunities, and proximity to both countryside and city attractions. Guests appreciate the spaciousness, well-equipped amenities, and warm welcome from the owner. The cottage is considered a great value, especially for families and pet owners. Some guests noted dated furnishings, occasional noise from nearby transport, and a few maintenance issues, but overall, the property offers a comfortable and enjoyable stay in a tranquil location.

Most guests found the cottage clean and tidy, particularly the bedding and bathroom. However, a few reviews mentioned issues with the kitchen floor and general datedness, which affected their perception of cleanliness.

The location is highly praised for its peacefulness, access to walks, and convenience for exploring Northumberland and Newcastle. Some minor noise from the airport and trains was noted but did not detract significantly from the overall experience.

Guests generally found the cottage comfortable and spacious, with good amenities for families and pets. However, several reviews mentioned uncomfortable sofas, a cold downstairs area in winter, and an old mattress in the main bedroom.

The cottage is described as well-equipped for a holiday, with kitchen essentials and entertainment for children. Some guests felt the furnishings and kitchen were dated and in need of updating, and noted issues with heating and maintenance.

Guests appreciated the owner's friendliness, flexibility with check-in, and thoughtful touches such as fresh flowers, a bottle of wine, and kitchen essentials. Please note that such gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.

Positives - fantastic location, fabulous walks on the doorstep and well located for visiting the part of Northumberland we needed to be near. The bedding was clean, the bathroom was good. However. Negatives - This is the most dated cottage we have ever stayed in. The sofas were dreadfully uncomfortable and covered in grey fitted bed sheets, clearly to protect from dogs that are allowed on furniture but it meant we couldn’t plump the cushions to even try and make them a bit more comfortable. The original wooden floorboard kitchen floor was disgustingly filthy, the kitchen was appalling really, we managed but it gave me the ick the whole time we were there. The washing up bowl! I’ve thrown better out. The cottage, it’s electrics, heating, furnishings and decor clearly haven’t been updated in decades. I didn’t like the fact that there is only a wooden door separating the cottage from next door, covered by a curtain. It should be mentioned in the description. We slept in the main bedroom and that bed mattress needs throwing out. The heating was on for short periods twice a day and we were cold, it was March, it wasn’t at all warm outside. We used the electric fire in the living room every time we were in the house. We had our own holiday let for some years and I know the effort I put in to making sure our cottage was a pleasure to stay in, my good reviews told me I was doing something right. The owners of this place are clearly doing the bare minimum for their holiday makers.

We had a really lovely stay at Isabella cottage. It was a large period cottage. Great for families as it is close to the country park and play park and the children loved the games and DVD's to borrow! Very quiet and peaceful location with a multitude of walks from the front door, but also not to far away from Newcastle and Gateshead and the A1 for travels up to Northumberland.
