With some of the best sea views, Rhosmair is located in an enviable, detached position and is ideal for families wishing to explore the West Wales coastline and Snowdonia National Park. There’s a lovely patio overlooking the sea, or you can admire the sunsets from the window seat in the living room.
Set in Llanaber on the northern outskirts of Barmouth, it’s just a short walk into the town centre with a range of pubs and eateries, together with the sandy beach (don’t forget to bring your bucket and spade!). There’s a funfair and even indoor soft play area. You can walk or cycle over the famous Barmouth Bridge and follow the Mawddach Trail along the course of the old railway line 9 miles to the pretty town of Dolgellau. There is so much to see and do in this wonderful area, climb the 2,928ft high Cader Idris, take a trip on the Fairbourne or Talyllyn Railways and wander along past waterfalls and forests. Conquer mighty Harlech Castle, unesco World Heritage Site, visit the quirky Italianate village of Portmeirion, fly over a slate quarry at Zip World in Blaenau Ffestiniog, or bounce on trampoline nets deep underground at Bounce Below. Beach 500 yards. Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant 200 yards.

We have been to this cottage five times, and are always blown away by the location and views. Easy access to beach, Caider Idris, etc. Very convenient and spacious. Here comes the honest review: A couple of years ago though, they changed the lounge furniture and it is so uncomfortable we had to double up the base cushions from the chairs, (it's so low and soft and gives no support at all) and the following year we packed our own cushions from home furniture (yes, really), to ensure a week of relative comfort, if we were inside reading or because of inclement weather. There are some other things that really need a refresh and updating or throwing out, but otherwise it's well equipped. I know a kitchen update is on the cards. The owners very much state it's their home and you are holidaying in it, not sure how this makes other holiday makers feel, I think it's unnecessary to write this on the blackboard in the kitchen and in the visitor books when they come for their visits, and probably has an impact on what other people write when they leave. (Ie, not so honest).It's a great base and a generally lovely house -which is exactly why we keep going back. If a couple of hundred quid at IKEA was spent and some of the pillows were replaced and a new lounge suite, it would be 10/10.At £1600 peak season per week, they can afford to do it.

Really nice place, amazing view and within walking distance of Barmouth town. Easy routes for nice hikes and even left us some basic supplies when we checked in
