Guests say

The Old Cider Mill receives glowing praise for its peaceful, idyllic countryside setting and beautifully decorated, cosy interiors. Guests consistently highlight the warm hospitality of the hosts, the well-equipped kitchen, and the thoughtful touches that make for a relaxing stay. The property is especially appreciated for its tranquillity, scenic views, and suitability for both couples and dog owners. While the access track is occasionally mentioned as bumpy, and the bed size noted by some, the overwhelmingly positive feedback focuses on comfort, cleanliness, and the welcoming atmosphere.

Guests repeatedly describe the property as spotless, very clean, and well-maintained, with no negative comments regarding cleanliness.

The rural, secluded location is highly praised for its beauty and tranquillity, perfect for those seeking a peaceful retreat. A few guests note the access track is rough, but this does not detract from the overall positive impression.

The cottage is described as cosy, warm, and relaxing, with comfortable furnishings and a welcoming atmosphere. Some mention the bed is a standard double and may feel small for those used to a king size, and one guest found the pillows a bit soft, but overall comfort is rated very highly.

The property is well-equipped, with guests noting the kitchen has everything needed, including quality appliances. The log burner, roll-top bath, and garden are frequently mentioned as highlights. One review notes the bath was missing a plug and lacked a proper shower, but this is a minor point among otherwise excellent feedback.

Many guests mention being welcomed with freshly baked bread, milk, and sometimes wine or figs, as well as a lit fire and Christmas decorations. While these thoughtful touches are frequently noted, it should be politely stated that such gifts are not guaranteed.

The Old Cider Mill is nestled in the owner’s land opposite one of the oldest houses in Wales, orginally built for Henry IV as a hunting lodge. This barn itself dates back to 1402 and was built to produce cider for the hunting lodge when Owain Glyndwr, the only native Welshman to hold the title ’Prince of Wales’, was at war with Henry IV. Indeed, the property is thought to have been built specifically for him and there are many original features that have been retained.

The barn comprises of a large open plan kitchen/dining room with fitted appliances and a Rayburn oven. This then leads to a large living area with an electric fire. Upstairs is a double bedroom and a marble en-suite bathroom with a free standing bath.

There are some great views to be had from the patio area of the barn and some lovely wildlife ponds to look over. There is a wild rabbit that comes to visit and eat some of the plants by the barn. Some great walks are to be had directly from the property and lots of open space for your pets to run around, though please keep them on a lead when walking through livestock fields. Lovely cottage with log burner fireplace. Well equipped kitchen, and comfortable bed. In the bathroom the large bath is non usable as has no plug and no proper shower or shower screen. There are beautiful views, and a fab pub just a 5 minute drive away, with very friendly people and very tasty food 😋 highly recommended. The cottage is owned by a really nice couple who welcomed us, showed us around, and made sure we had everything we needed and comfortable.

Amazing Christmas Stay. There is nothing in the immediate area which we were aware of on booking but if you needed anything you could take a quick drive into Brecon, Builth Wells or Hay-on-Wye which are all within a 10-15 min drive. The path to the 1st gate was a fun experience but once you get through the 1st gate the rest of the path is great. The Accommodation was simply stunning, amazing setting and internally was just gorgeous. The kitchen is fully equipped with Washing Machine, Cooker, Air fryer etc... The bed was very comfortable. You can walk through the fields uniterrupted which was great for us with our dogs. The Christmas Tree and door Wreath were a lovely touch.Had one of the best Christmas breaks just total tranquility and relaxation.

We had a lovely, relaxing stay in The Old Cider Mill. We were greeted with a warm welcome (and a glass of wine and a freshly baked loaf of bread!) from the friendly owners and were immediately impressed by the large downstairs space with its quirky decor, a fire laid in the wood-burning stove, and a tastefully decorated Christmas tree. Some people might not appreciate such a quiet, isolated location, but it was perfect for our wish to "get away from it all".
