Close by are the old fishing villages of Runswick Bay and Staithes, with their cobbled, narrow streets and sandy beaches, rich with fossils and rock pools. Enjoy a bracing cliff-top walk on the Cleveland Way or visit the seaside town of Whitby with its imposing abbey, many independent shops and famous fish and chips. With the stunning North York Moors National Park on the doorstep and numerous attractions such as the steam railway at Grosmont, this Hinderwell cottage pleases everyone. Just nine miles from the charming harbour town of Whitby, Hinderwell is ideally located for exploring the surrounding countryside, ranging from the dramatic cliffs and smugglers' coves of the coastline to the deep, secluded dales of the North York Moors National Park. This is a wonderful area for walking, cycling and fishing.
