Vine Cottage is a characterful property with comfortable beds and a homely living room, situated in the beautiful area of Studland, close to the beach. Despite some concerns over cleanliness and maintenance, guests have enjoyed their stays, appreciating the cottage's charm and excellent location.
Several reviews mention the need for a deeper clean, with specific references to fingerprints on the fridge, stains on cupboard doors, and a general feeling that the property hadn't been used for a while. The cleanliness appears to be below expectations for some guests.
The location is consistently praised for being excellent, with the property being close to the beach and in the beautiful surroundings of Studland. This aspect of the cottage seems to be a highlight for guests.
Guests find the beds very comfortable and the bedrooms inviting. However, there are concerns about the accessibility of the downstairs bedroom for those with mobility issues, and the lack of an additional toilet for a property that sleeps six.
The property is described as well cared for, but several guests have noted issues with maintenance, such as a rocking toilet, non-working lights, and a lack of basic supplies like oven gloves and bin liners. The outdoor space is also considered misleading and inadequate.
Unfortunately we’ve been unable assess this category comprehensively enough based on the reviews we’ve received from guests about this property.
Vine Cottage, a thatched, Grade II listed home, is located in Studland in Dorset, just a short distance from the lovely Middle Beach. Vine Cottage is a delightful home for a self-catered stay, welcoming six guests. It exudes character and charm and is finished with original elements throughout, whilst situated in a prime location close to a hub of amenities and breath-taking walking paths. Take advantage of the two off-road parking spaces at the front of the cottage before travelling indoors with your personal belongings. Start your holiday in the well-equipped kitchen/diner, where you can whip up delectable meals for your family and keep up with your laundry throughout your stay. Find the homely sitting room for a leisurely afternoon with a good book in hand, which has magnificent, beamed ceilings, plush chairs, and an electric fire, which is great for lighting on chilly evenings. Choose between three tastefully decorated bedrooms, including a double, a twin, and a ground-floor twin, all of which are serviced by a ground-floor bathroom. Come morning, explore your surroundings and stock up on necessities at a nearby convenience store, before heading to the seaside, enjoy brunch at the Salt Pig Café, and spend the afternoon participating in watersports. Visit Swanage Beach and Pier for another day at the beach, where you may savour a bag of fish and chips or explore the Studland and Godlingston Heath National Natural Reserve if you'd rather an active hike. Before continuing on the River Frome trail towards Wareham and its amenities, plan an afternoon of fun at the Dorset Adventure Park or explore the beautiful ruins of Corfe Castle. Finish your holiday in Poole, which is teeming with places to see, including the RNLI Poole Lifeboat Museum, the breath-taking Sandbanks Beach, and a variety of shopping and dining options. Enjoy your next family break at Vine Cottage.
On a peninsula in the Isle of Purbeck, close to Corfe Castle and Swanage, is a tiny village called Studland. The village marks the beginning of the 630-mile South West Coast Path, which runs from Minehead in Somerset all the way to Poole Harbour, where the chain ferry crosses the harbour's mouth. The National Trust, which manages Studland, is renowned for its long, sandy beaches, which offer watersports amenities and nearby riding stables on the shore during specific times of the year. There are a number of restaurants in the hamlet, such as The Bankes Arms or The Pig on the Beach next to South Beach, as well as the National Trust café on Knoll Beach. While there are frequent bus services from the town core and beaches that travel to Sandbanks and further on to Bournemouth, the Sandbanks chain ferry is the quickest method to visit the seaside resorts of Poole and Bournemouth.
