About this property

Ballymote 4 miles. This wonderful, detached farmhouse is situated at the foot of Keshcorran near Ballymote in County Sligo, boasting spectacular views towards the Caves of Keash, which are set into the hills above. Nestled in the quiet village of Keash and superbly renovated to an excellent standard, this traditional farmhouse boasts a bright, stylish and luxurious interior. The spacious fitted kitchen and dining area offer the perfect space to relax, unwind and enjoy some quality time with loved ones over a delicious home-cooked meal. The cosy sitting room invites you to put your feet up and relax with a good book, with the woodburning stove adding a comforting and warming atmosphere. There are four well-presented bedrooms, one of which has large windows and French doors to a balcony, where you can step outside in the morning to enjoy the glorious rural views. The village of Keash has a Roman Catholic Church and a local pub within walking distance of the farmhouse, though the village is mainly recognised as home to its ancient caves, which are one of Sligo’s most undiscovered delights. These haunting hollows open up the side of the mountain and can be spotted from many miles away. From the cottage, it is a short walk leading up to the caverns, where the view from inside Cormac Cave stretches across the surrounding countryside. The town of Ballymote is just a few miles away; with a friendly, thriving community and a selection of shops, pubs and restaurants, it's enclosed in rich, green countryside, perfect for walking and cycling. The town is home to the ruins of Ballymote Castle, which was built around 1300. Game and coarse fishing is also available locally on Lough na Leibe, which has a wonderful stock of Trout, run by the local Ballymote angling club. Ballymote Golf Club is a gem of a course hidden between the Curlew Mountains and Ballymote town. It has become one of Connaught's premier golf experiences. The Lake hole 7th is the signature hole set into Ballinascarrow Lake and will match the 17th at Druids Glenn as a beautiful spectacle. The cultural city of Sligo is just a 20-minute drive away, resting on Ireland’s majestic Wild Atlantic Way and nestled in Sligo Bay, set to the backdrop of Benbulben, Sligo’s iconic Table Top Mountain. Home to endless sandy beaches, traditional pubs, craft shops and gourmet cafes, Sligo offers a spectacular place to spend your holiday. A fantastic choice for your adventure in the wonderful west of Ireland!

The market town of Ballymote offers shops, pubs and restaurants, a park and railway station. The county town of Sligo is within driving distance and is well worth a visit. Sligo boasts historic monuments and buildings and a number of shops, pubs and restaurants. County Sligo has lovely beaches, golf and fishing, making it an ideal base for an Irish holiday.

The property was incredibly spacious for our family of 5 plus dog. The large open plan kitchen and patio area was fantastic and where we spent most of our time. The view directly to the caves was amazing. The property was an ideal base for walking and outdoor activities across sligo, roscommon and Leitrim. Lough Key is only 20mins away. Would recommend for anyone looking for a perfect countryside getaway!

However the downstairs bedroom had a very thin bobbled sheet that looked slept in , through which you could see the mattress and had no mattress protector . The sheet and duvet were both dirty so we had to wash them before sleeping in them. The master bedroom also had no mattress protector and the mattress was badly stained as were the pillows and the pillow protectors. I took the sheet and a mattress protector from the third bedroom and used them in the two bedrooms we were going to sleep in. The toilets were very stained and the seat in downstairs bathroom was brown too. It needs some attention to detail . I had to hoover my bedroom the carpet was covered in hair and did smell. We have pictures if you would like to see them . We are used to staying in Sykes cottages and utensils like sauce pans and our beds , and bathrooms are always spotlessy clean and tidy. The information needs updating as it was all out of date and didn’t apply . We are being completely honest here , we do not want anything but were very disappointed in the condition of the house inside. We didn’t speak to the owner at the time , mainly as we washed everything we were using and we made do as were there for a family confirmation and had nowhere else to go. I would gladly go back another time if it was much cleaner and maintained as it was perfect position for me near my family but not the way it is now inside. Anna and Bridget

Easily accommodated 8 without feeling cramped. Beautiful location with lovely outlook to the caves , it is remote and quiet, a car is recommended as it’s a fair way into town. Definitely recommend and would book again
