Rose Cottage is a wonderfully-equipped, single-storey cottage resting in Rosslare Strand, County Wexford. With private parking, an enclosed garden, family-friendly facilities, and just a short distance from the beach and amenities, this cottage makes an ideal escape for a family, couples, or friends on the Irish coast. Enter into an entrance porch leading into a huge conservatory with vaulted ceilings, home to a French doors to garden, an open fire, reclining sofa and a 65” TV for entertainment, and the real star of the show, a bar area with stools and optics, encouraging you to toast to your special holiday. Moving through the property can find the kitchen fitted with all the appliances you could need for a self-catering stay, including an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher and there’s even a utility area with laundry facilities. There is also a small sitting area with open fire within this space. Outside the convenience continues, with plenty of children’s toys to keep the little ones entertained, alfresco furniture, and a large barbecue for those warmer evenings. Back inside, get some rest in one of five bedrooms; the master is a king size, complete with an en-suite bath, while the remaining bedrooms, a twin, a bunk (the lower bunk being a double) and two more doubles, are serviced by another spacious bathroom with a power shower and WC. If you can tear yourself away, make the most of your surroundings with a trip to the local beach, which is a short stroll away, where you can build sandcastles and eat ice cream before enjoying a more hearty meal at one of Rosslare’s restaurants or take-aways. Avid golfers will be pleased to discover Rosslare Golf Club nearby, with luscious greens and unbeatable sea views to enjoy; alternatively, you can head in the opposite direction to savour the view from Rosslare Harbour. Slightly further afield is the county town of Wexford, home to any extra amenities you may need throughout your stay and the Wexford Bridge leading to yet more picture-perfect scenery along the coastlines and inland. For a more historical day out with the family, there are a handful of sites within driving distance such as Sigginstown Castle or Enniscorthy Castle, or you can simply spend time walking and cycling through the rolling countryside. Rose Cottage is a fantastic choice for a break to County Wexford.
The village of Abbey is situated 7 miles west of Portumna and 11 miles from Loughrea, south east of Galway city on the northern shore of Lough Rea. County Galway’s winner, for three years running, of Ireland’s Tidy Towns competition, the village of Abbey offers two pubs and a supermarket, and a monastery dating back to the 11th Century, from which the village takes its name. Portumna is nearby, offering good fishing and watersports, while the medieval town of Loughrea is host to several shops and pubs, two 4 star hotels, an 18 hole golf course and a lake, renowned for its fishing. Gort, is a medium sized market town on the Galway-to-Ennis Road, situated in a gap between the Slieve Aughty Mountains and the Burren to the south. There is a strong tradition of Irish music in the locality and many pubs stage sessions at night. We were not expecting a palace but the list of shortcomings is dismal: intermittent heating/hot water (owner made some attempt to have fixed), two of three toilets unusable, yellow gunk in freezer box, area under fridge filthy, area behind bed in one room dirty and in another room simply disgusting - I have photos⦠only found when packing to leave and I dropped a sock down beside the bed, badly soiled towel on top bunk on arrival, half the crockery/cutlery unwashed on arrival but put away. Simply dreadful. We had a pleasant stay despite the condition of some parts of the place.

Comfortable living space, appreciated the night lights around the cottage and good wifi coverage inside. We didn't use the outside facilities but secure play area for children and lots of seating for warmer days. Would most definitely go back.
