Located in one of the most desirable areas in northern Sardinia, Villa Caboni makes the ideal base from which to explore the luxurious lifestyle and prestigious beaches synonymous with Costa Smeralda, as well as the island's fishing villages and breathtaking natural backdrops.
Inside, the villa exudes a true bohemian charm. From the moment you step into the living room, you’ll be bathed in light thanks to the large opening in the wall which lets the sunshine in. In the living area you'll find rattan furniture topped with neutral pillows and soft, wooden beams and decorations crafted from natural materials. The bedrooms are decorated in a Sardinian rustic-chic style, with locally inspired interiors complementing the neighbouring shores, and are all en-suite. Expect pastel-hued linen on the large double beds that match the curtains - some leading to dainty little balconies - and décor inspired by traditional artisanal crafts synonymous with the island's ancient past.
Overlooking the garden below is a large terrace, with walls carved out of limestone and framed by wooden elements. The architectural, whitewashed walls reflect the island’s clifftops upon its opening. Here, guests can enjoy an evening aperitif and watch the sunset change in the hues of hydrangeas. If the comfortable sofas aren't enough to persuade you, what about watching the stars through a telescope after an al-fresco dinner?
The garden is equally enticing, with neatly manicured lawns and enclosed with trees and lush vegetation that characterise the coast. Soak up the warm Mediterranean sun by the pool – whether you decide to jump in, laze on the sun loungers or spread out a towel right on the wooden deck. There are many quiet corners where you can retreat to when wanting to enjoy some privacy, but true adventures await outside the property.
The closest village is a 10-minute walk away and boasts local amenities such as supermarkets, a bar and a restaurant. To get even closer to the local lifestyle, head to Capriccioli, just 5 minutes away by car. The village is close to notable beaches, walking trails and beach clubs and it will keep you occupied for an entire day.
Costa Smeralda is 20 minutes away by car and is buzzing with summer regattas, bars and cafés with old-school glamour that add to the convivial atmosphere, only further enhanced by the azure backdrop.
While snoozing on the beach is tempting, more hustle and bustle awaits in Olbia, one of Sardinia's largest cities only a 30-minute drive down south. Steeped in rich history and culture, the coastal city lures travellers with its museums and churches, such as the San Simplicio Basilica and Museo Archeologico di Olbia.
Although greatly positioned nestled in between other villas and surrounded by greenery, guests will be pleased to find out that the closest village is only a 10-minute walk away. Here you can find a couple of amenities such as shops and bars that can be reached by taking a pleasant stroll.
There's no need to drive to bigger towns when you're in the mood for a delicious meal. The closest restaurant is less than 20 minutes on foot, while the supermarket can be reached in just 15 minutes – convenient when you wish to stock up on wonderful local ingredients.
The seaside town of Porto Cervo is equally just 10 minutes away by car, located in the jet setter's paradise that is Costa Smeralda. With jaw-dropping vistas, picturesque cliff-top villages and captivating beaches, it's the perfect place to unwind among other affluent visitors. Stroll around Porto Cervo and spend the day shopping in boutiques in the Piazzetta's alleyways, enjoy oysters and other seafood in renowned restaurants or simply admire the yachts moored in the marina. If you’re lucky you might even spot some Hollywood celebrities such as the Clooney family.
The north of the island benefits from a close position to Sardinia's strings of neighbouring islets, both those undisturbed and those buzzing with visitors. On a boat ride to Maddalena, an aquatic constellation of islands, you can rub shoulders with bottlenose dolphins and spot curious heads of turtles above the water as you start to approach the shores. This is the diver's paradise, with snorkelling and swimming in crystal clear waters being widely encouraged.
Wine lovers can indulge in tasting many local varieties, from Grenaches and Grappas to sparkling wines that can be enjoyed within a stone's throw away of rolling vineyards.
The surrounding area is full of beaches, coves and coastal walking trails that allow you to enjoy both exercise and relaxation on the same day. Only a 10-minute drive away in Capriccioli, you can reach Spiaggia dell'Elefante with a rock in the water that looks like an elephant. Spiaggia La Celvia is a sandy crescent in a yacht-dotted bay known for its clear water, with pedal boat and sun bed rentals. On the opposite side across the sea, Cala dei Utupicci is a great hiking area with serene ocean views and an abundance of nature, also just a 10-minute drive away from the villa.
Drive further down south and in 30 minutes, you'll get to Olbia – A carefree city that embodies the very soul of Sardinia and a popular destination among tourists. Walking around its crumbling streets and tasting local cuisine in charming cafés and restaurants is the best way to spend a day, but you can also head to the waterfront promenade for a wholesome jog or visit one of its admirable landmarks – San Simplicio Basilica and Museo Archeologico di Olbia, for example.
