Barnard Castle 4 miles. This fantastic detached cottage is located in the quiet village of Greta Bridge, near Barnard Castle. Situated in the grounds of the Morritt Hotel and Garage Spa, the cottage is a superb venue for hosting large groups with the added benefit of having the hotel’s facilities which are available to guests, right on your doorstep. The cottage includes six large bedrooms which can sleep up to twenty guests. The mezzanine family rooms are accessed up a spiral staircase from the double rooms below. There is plenty of living space for your group to enjoy meals together at the large dining tables, play pool in the games room, detox in the sauna or relax in front of the open fire whilst watching a film. Outside, the private garden provides a superb area for summer barbecues on warmer days. On-site facilities at the hotel include an award-winning 2 AA Rosette restaurant, excellent pub and bistro, as well as a luxury spa, where a number of treatments are available. A short drive brings you to Barnard Castle, with its bustling high street full of quaint shops, pubs and cafes, as well as the impressive Bowes Museum. Further afield you will find the historic Yorkshire market town of Richmond, great for strolling along the cobbled high street and castle walls. Nearby attractions include The Pennine and Teesdale Ways, the medieval Raby Castle with deer park and the magnificent waterfalls at High Force. The stunning North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the Yorkshire Dales National Park are also within easy reach. This cottage is the ideal holiday base for that well-earned break!

The market town of Barnard Castle is situated in the unspoilt countryside of Teesdale in County Durham. It stands on the site of an ancient Roman ford which crosses the river. The medieval ruins of the castle still tower over the river and are well worth a visit. Known affectionately as 'Barney’ by residents and visitors alike, the town boasts cobble streets, yards and back lanes, which were ?rst laid out in the 12th century.
