The Compton Cottage in Gloucestershire receives high praise for its stylish comfort, well-equipped kitchen, and beautiful surroundings. Guests appreciate the peaceful location, ideal for exploring the Cotswolds, and the thoughtful touches, including welcome gifts. The property is dog-friendly, with an enclosed garden, and the management is commended for excellent communication and accommodation.
Guests consistently note the cottage's exceptional cleanliness, with multiple reviews highlighting its spotless condition and the fresh smell upon arrival. One isolated comment mentioned stains on bedspreads, but this does not significantly impact the overall high cleanliness rating.
The location is celebrated for its tranquility and picturesque setting in the Cotswolds, with easy access to local attractions and walks. The peaceful countryside and proximity to pubs and restaurants contribute to a high location score.
Comfort is a standout feature, with guests frequently mentioning the high-quality beds, linen, and furnishings. The cosy atmosphere and luxurious touches ensure a comfortable stay, reflected in the reviews.
The cottage is lauded for its well-stocked kitchen, high-quality amenities, and secure garden for pets. The presence of Sky TV, Jo Malone toiletries, and practical utilities like a utility room add to the excellent facilities score.
Thoughtfulness is evident through the provision of welcome gifts, fresh eggs, and other provisions. While these gifts are greatly appreciated, it's important to note that such offerings, while common, are not guaranteed for every stay.
Set in the grounds of a magnificent Cotswolds Manor House, The Compton Cottage is every inch the rural idyll. A timeless property in a location that is simply breath-taking. Nestling on the bank of the River Coln deep in the Cotswold hills, surrounded by farmland and nearby woods sits this beautiful, romantic gem. Once inside you will find a very special home. A contemporary, newly refurbished converted stable block that’s filled with designer furniture and fabrics. The neat touches throughout are as welcoming to a couple as for a family. Original beams and features remain, reminding you of the history of this grand old manor. Downstairs the shaker style kitchen and dining room finished to a very high spec is a perfect place to cook and relax. Upstairs is the living room, two luxury bedrooms and bathroom. All with uninterrupted views across the countryside. You could not be better located for a Cotswolds weekend or holiday retreat. Your dog is welcome too, with miles and miles of walks on your doorstep. As Cotswold cottages come this is exceptional! A choice you will thoroughly enjoy and no doubt return to.
Northleach IS just off the Roman road, the Fosse Way (A429) 8 miles north-east of Cirencester and 10 miles south-west of Stow-on-the-Wold, and about 7 miles from Burford - making it an excellent place to travel from if you're looking to visit these popular and attractive places. Northleach was at one time an important market town, celebrated throughout Europe as a major centre for the Cotswold wool trade! The fifteenth-century church of St Peter and St Paul, paid for by the wealthy wool merchants, was built with stone dug from the quarry in the town itself and what is now the Market Square. More recently the village has been used in a number of recent films, including the Casual Vacancy of 2015.
