Newbury Cottage in BOURTON ON THE WATER is praised for its fantastic location, cosy atmosphere, and well-equipped kitchen. Guests appreciate the thoughtful touches like provided essentials and the warmth upon arrival. While some mention issues with cleanliness, comfort, and maintenance, the charm and convenience of the cottage, along with its proximity to local amenities, make it a popular choice for a holiday stay.
Reviews are mixed regarding cleanliness. Some guests found the cottage to be clean and well-presented, while others noted dust and a smell on the living room couches. The presence of both positive and negative comments suggests that cleanliness is generally satisfactory, but there is room for improvement.
The location is highly praised for being close to local amenities and attractions, offering a convenient base for exploring BOURTON ON THE WATER and the Cotswolds. The availability of parking, despite being tight, is also appreciated.
Comfort receives a mixed response. While some guests found the beds comfy and the cottage cosy, others reported issues with an uncomfortable mattress and concerns about the staircase safety. The balance of feedback suggests that while generally comfortable, there are specific areas that could be enhanced.
Facilities are generally well-regarded, with a well-equipped kitchen and thoughtful provision of essentials. However, there are several mentions of maintenance issues such as the need for handrails, problems with the electric shower, and the lack of WiFi. These comments indicate that while the facilities meet guests' needs, there is a need for attention to certain aspects.
Guests frequently mention the thoughtfulness of provisions like milk, bread, and mince pies. These touches are appreciated and contribute to a welcoming experience. It should be noted that such gifts, while often provided, are not guaranteed for every stay.
Newbury Cottage is a well situated, end of terrace cottage located close to the centre of Bourton on the Water - the ever popular and picturesque Cotswold village. It is an ideal location for families with children or those wishing to be within very easy walking distance of village facilities and attractions. The cottage dates back 230 years and retains its beamed character and Cotswold stone fireplace, whilst being sympathetically modernised in recent years. It is presented in a traditional, basic style that is both cosy and comfortable. A Cotswold cottage in a quintessential village that certainly represents good value.
Located in the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the historic village of Bourton-on-the-Water dates back to Neolithic times with over 100 buildings being Grade II listed or higher. The picturesque high street nestles alongside the River Windrush over which several low stone bridges span, which is why Bourton-on-the-Water is known as the Venice in the Cotswolds. Also take a visit to the medieval town of Burford for a great day out. The Saxon market town of Moreton-in-Marsh and the quintessential English village of Broadway are both within easy reach and make a great day out. The spa town of Cheltenham is, architecturally, the most complete Regency town in England with an incredible range of shops, cinemas, theatres, restaurants and pubs, it is famous for its horse racing festival in March, culminating in the Gold Cup steeplechase.

Excellent location. We had some issues with the appliances, which the owner addressed in a timely and professional fashion. The overall comfort of the rental would be enhanced with a larger bed ( there is room) and with an upgrade in the towels and bedding.

Explored Bourton on the Water, Stow on the Wold, Broadway and Great Tew. We enjoyed the maze, model village, Hawkstone Brewery and the motor museum. Relaxed evenings playing board games by the fire were ideal. Thank you very much, definitely recommend and will be back. Fay

Great location in Bourton - Very cosy cottage - Everything you need is there - Parking is a little tight but if you're a good driver it shouldn't present an issue
