Guests say

Kettle Cottage in Chipping Campden is highly praised for its excellent location, comfort, and the friendliness of the hosts. Guests appreciate the property's charm, quietness, and the proximity to local amenities. The upstairs bedrooms and outdoor terrace are particularly liked, while the small kitchen and some maintenance issues are noted.

The majority of guests found the cottage to be clean and cosy. However, a few guests mentioned areas where cleanliness could be improved, such as dust and spider webs, which slightly lowers the score.

The location is consistently described as excellent, with the cottage being in a quiet spot yet steps away from the high street, shops, pubs, and restaurants. The convenience and beauty of the location are highly commended.

Guests find the beds comfortable and the upstairs rooms spacious. The terrace adds to the comfort, offering a peaceful outdoor space. Some guests noted the cottage can be a bit cold and the kitchen small, which slightly affects the comfort level.

Facilities are generally well-received, especially the private decking area. However, guests have pointed out the small size of the kitchen, the lack of a shower screen, and some wear and tear, indicating room for improvement in maintenance.

While the reviews reflect the host's helpfulness and the provision of a welcoming space, there is no specific mention of gifts. Therefore, it is not possible to assess the thoughtfulness based on gifts, and the score is set to null.

About this property

What a sweet and historic cottage! Kettle Cottage, literally, is a gem of a holiday home tucked down a little cobbled alley off the Chipping Campden High Street. With records dating back many hundreds of years, this archetypal bolt hole was originally where the locals used to come to get their kettles mended, in fact today on the High Street you'll see a huge wall mounted kettle outside the main house! Now, instead of mending kettles, you can walk in under a minute to view an art gallery, enjoy a meal, a coffee or be enjoying a bracing walk on the Cotswold Way. Inside, the cottage is simply but well furnished, compact and ideal for two but able to accommodate four (there are two large bedrooms and two bathrooms upstairs*). The rooms upstairs are large and light. It is a lovely little cottage in one of the Cotswolds most attractive and popular locations.

Chipping Campden, Gloucestershire is a market town, which defines the saying "good things come in small packages" as it proves itself to be a wonderful place for tourists to stay. For a dose of famous history, head to the birthplace of William Shakespeare in Stratford-upon-Avon just 12 short miles away, it offers some charming little buildings, bookshops, theatres and museums.

Thanks, we had a lovely time.

The beds were very comfortable. However, we found the cottage lacked attention to detail in many areas. For example....the cottage felt quite tired, scuffed and chipped paintwork in places, empty bottle of bleach in the bathroom, no dessert spoons in kitchen therefore we had to eat with tablespoons, poor kitchen equipment, dirty grout around the shower and the blind didn't work properly in bathroom. But the main problem we encountered was the overall cleanliness of the property. The cottage was quite dusty especially under the bed where lots of hair and dust were very visible. Lots of spider webs in corners in the lounge were visible and unfortunately it just didn't feel like a deep clean had been done prior to our visit.

The cottage was clean comfortable and beautiful. We found taking a shower difficult as one of the bathrooms does not have a shower screen, and there is nowhere to hold on to as one steps out of the slippery bath. ( We are older, at 73 and 80 and 81 years old, so in retrospect we should have looked at this before booking the cottage.) Nonetheless, we had a marvellous time in Chipping Camden, visiting gardens and going to concerts, and thank the owners very much for their hospitality.
